October 3, 20196 yr either a standing one or those handheld ones? do they work? yes ive already asked my wife
October 3, 20196 yr I used to have one that was on wheels with a hook for your clothes with a vasin on the bottom. That thing was awesome but it would steam the hell out of your hands if you weren't careful. Quick and easy to use. When it broke I got a handheld one off Amazon. It was useless. Had to send it back. If your using it a lot go with the heavy duty one. I'm sure you can make the little handheld things work if you're patient enough to make multiple passes

October 3, 20196 yr Yes they work. I have a handheld one from target that I use for wrinkled clothes at trade shows.
October 3, 20196 yr My wife has the stand-up variety with the steamer on a hose in her closet and she uses it all the time. It has a a reservoir tank at the base. I made the mistake of trying to freshen up some dress pants I was still wearing.....thinking it was like one of the little hand held units. Don't do that.
October 3, 20196 yr Author Sooo moral of the story is buy a standing steamer? Getting really annoyed at ironing shirts. I also don't prefer getting them pressed by the cleaners, and don't want to drop off woolen goods either

I am very anal about my laundry, and don't like anyone else doing it.

October 3, 20196 yr I have a stand up one that I got because ironing sucks. It works perfectly as advertised. Just be careful using it on suits; I ruined a suit jacket by holding the stream head in one spot too long.
October 3, 20196 yr I got a travel steamer for Xmas a few years back. It is way better than the old suit on the back of the bathroom door during a hot shower trick.
October 3, 20196 yr A steamer will give you wrinkle-free clothing. It won't give you creases that aren't already there.
October 4, 20196 yr I have a handheld that I use on my wrinkle free shirts if they don’t get pulled from the dryer in a timely manner. Works to get wrinkles out easil and faster than ironing. However as the previous poster said it won’t crease fabric.
October 4, 20196 yr Steamer okay on synthetic or synthetic blends. Fair on 100% cotton dress shirts. Good on 100% cotton Polo style shirts. Steamer will not give "crisp" look that iron gives. Hand held holds about enough water to do one garment so there is much down time refilling, therefore floor model much better for home use. Hand held okay for taking out suit case wrinkles when traveling. Distilled water makes more steam and doesn't clog up the unit. tl/dr: Steamer faster and easier than ironing if you don't need that "crisp" look.

Burned the fuck out of my knee and the tip of my pecker!

October 4, 20196 yr I have been using a handheld one for a couple years and love it, especially for when I travel. My only complaint is that, unless you empty the water often, you could get a mildew type smell in your clothes.
October 5, 20196 yr I have a decent standup one, then bought this travel steamer: https://www.amazon.com/Ingenious-Design-850-Travel-Steamer/dp/B003ZT2ZQA/ref=as_li_ss_tl?&hvadid=374436128281&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=5210981234170825262&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=2840&hvtargid=pla-795038959571&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=77429098500&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=374436128281&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=5210981234170825262&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=2840&hvtargid=pla-795038959571&linkCode=sl1&tag=best-travel-steamer-20&linkId=5e1a9d7221b3278df239d53ad6b506bb&language=en_US The travel steamer works just as well, and is way more convenient.

October 5, 20196 yr Small degree of "unshrinking", but not much. Steamer relaxes the fibers, iron "pulls up" the fibers.
