So either he or bishop are not protected in the expansion draft, making room for oetter in a year. Yes?

Perhaps but the odds of an expansion team taking a 34 year old goal tender aren't very high.

This is obviously a much smaller move, but forgot to post it yesterday after our shitfest.

Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill announced today that the club has signed defenseman Mark Pysyk to a one-year, $750,000 contract.

Pysyk, 28, set career highs by posting nine goals and 18 points (9-9=18) in 58 regular-season games played for Florida in 2019-20. Finishing with a +4 plus/minus rating, he was also used at right wing at times throughout the season. In four postseason contests, he registered eight shots on net and did not record a point.

Appearing in 417 regular-season games over eight seasons with Buffalo and Florida, he has recorded 88 career regular-season points (22-66=88). He also earned a bronze medal, along with Jamie Oleksiak, for Canada at the 2010 World Jr. Championship.

"Mark is a solid, puck-moving defenseman and gives us another right-handed shot on the backend," said Nill. "We feel that his skillset lends itself to how we ask our defensemen to activate and he will be a good fit."

The 6-foot-1, 196-pound native of Sherwood Park, Alberta was originally selected by Buffalo in the first round (23rd overall) of the 2010 NHL Draft.

1. We should probably start a new thread, yes?

2. I had basically given up on finding Stars merch in Austin during the playoffs. Nothing at Academy, Dick's, Walmart, Target. Today I was at the Tyler's outlet on Lamar returning a couple gifts and picked these up for $15 each:

Nice to finally have some apparel.

Looks like next season could feature an all Canadian Division in the NHL. Would solve the issue of American teams not going into Canada.

The Canucks are not messing around with this virus.....while the Americans....well.

Two new threads at least. NHL catch all and a Dallas one.

They can just have their own Cup, too, since none of them are winning the real one anyway.

NO ONE calls games like Doc.  This sucks but what a fucking badass he was.  Somewhere there is a soundboard that Deadspin did with all of his different sayings/descriptors for on the ice action.

Get the reason for it but I am not a fan of it yet. Might change when I see it in person

Nope

but yeah let’s see it on the ice instead of a black background.

Just give me the winter classic uniforms and forget this neon green bullshit

It's shit. Could have gone with the original jersey when moving here or the star pattern but they came up with this mid 90s trash.

Stars unveil new third jerseys. i dunno.

A coworker said that's some shit Baylor would wear if they had hockey. Honestly, I was not aware that Monster Energy is our new sponsor

it's officially.  Bones is coming back as HC. no interim shit.  after the Stanley Cup run, he had to be given the job.

Bowness had interim removed today. Happy for him and hopefully this gives the team some stability for a while. I like him a lot. I have my doubts about his longterm abilities, but I think he deserves to continue to the steer the ship.

Great run. His reg season didn’t seem great. We’ll see I guess.

I think there's probably some buy-in that you get after a good Stanley Cup run.

Suggestion on new thread title:

Dallas Stars 2021: The Bowness Zone

Dallas Stars 2021: Bowness Hockey

Technically not Dallas Stars news, but the AHL has pushed the season start back to February 5, 2021 at the earliest.  I guess players like Hanley, Cogliano, etc. will be carried by the parent club until then?

Same thing I told my kid. My guess is it'll look better on the ice. But if they Win, I won't gaf what they wear...

Roope’s deal is done.

The Dallas Stars have signed restricted free agent forward Roope Hintz to a three-year, $9.45 million contract.

Hintz had 19 goals and 14 assists in 60 games during the regular season for the Western Conference champions, including five game-winning goals. He had two goals and 11 assists in 25 playoff games before missing the last two games of the Stanley Cup Final because of injuries.

Stars general manager Jim Nill announced the signing on Monday.

Hintz was already playing with a fractured ankle when he was tripped into the boards during Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final against Tampa Bay and suffered a hip injury. He didn't play the final two games as the Stars lost to the Lightning.

The Finn, who has played 118 regular-season games and 38 playoff games for Dallas the past two seasons, turns 24 next month. He has 28 goals and 27 assists in 118 regular season games.

Dallas selected Hintz in the second round of the 2015 draft with the 49th overall pick.

So we should have the same look we did in the playoffs to start the season.
