October 30, 20241 yr My 14 yo has entered full teenage stage. Total DA, does nothing we ask, back talking, yelling and general jackass. Every time we turn our back he’s sneaking Nintendo or iPhone when he’s supposed to be doing something else. Simple things take hours. He takes his phone into bathroom for 8 “shits” per day. We haven’t even gotten into the sneaking out and drinking phase, yet. Had to pray to the Lord today to ensure I didn’t beat his ass. Please tell me this will pass. Enjoy those early years as long as you can.
October 30, 20241 yr Popular Post Wife made him do this and he lost his shit as soon as she sat him in there Yesterday we had our first full blown laugh while we were giving him a bath and he’s starting to roll back to tummy and tummy to back. Pretty good milestones.

Everyone, but especially new parents, should take a basic diary aid course. Know the different techniques based on age, and even how to do it on yourself if you are home alone.

November 9, 20241 yr Popular Post Just received notification that our daughter made the JV soccer team as a 9th grader (there are three teams: Varsity, JV, and Frosh). The team has a lot of good players with one playing for a US national team. Our daughter is stoked that she made the cut despite not doing well during the tryouts (according to her). Very proud of my girl.

November 13, 20241 yr Popular Post I’ve somehow kept this little miracle alive for a month now. Man this is hard. The sleep is a joke at this point, but when he looks into your eyes, you can’t help but melt. Tried our first night in his Snoo, and he slept for 3 hours straight. I almost started crying. Had his monthly checkup. In 99th percentile in size. I’m 6’5” and wife is 5’10.5” ish. He’s got a good chance to be massive. its funny that the stuff you worried about before don’t seem to matter as much. I used to wish that i could wake up and they were 3. Now, I don’t want to miss a thing. He’s made all the pain, anger, sadness, bitterness, and suffering go away. Love having my little buddy.

November 14, 20241 yr Saw this last night and found it fairly amusing and very accurate with the time our first one was in this stage.

Some of the velcro ones inside the snoo one?.made a gigantic difference for both of ours!

November 14, 20241 yr my daughter was good in just the regular snoo swaddle. son has been very strong and very much wanting to move around since day 1, he got the bat wing swaddle and even sometimes a towel around his legs to keep them still and give them a little bit of elevation. the book we read for both of them was 12 Hours Sleep by 12 Weeks Old. We didn't get quite to 12 hours but it was successful with both of them. The girl we were catching up after a bad start when we needed to figure out how we could all sleep. The boy we started right off the bat and it was a piece of cake, just slowly stretching out the time between nighttime feeds until he was sleeping through the night. Lol that shitty 2am wakeup/feed, kinda miss it now. \m/ to you ocugolf, glad it has worked out for you guys and you get to have that little buddy Edited November 14, 20241 yr by Celery Man

Is that the elastic straps inside and then the rest of the swaddle goes on top? Like to keep them in place? He seems to do ok with it so far.

December 2, 20241 yr Those of you just venturing into the world of children's TV, normally I wouldn't recommend a subreddit, but.. Daniel Tiger Conspiracy A place for parents (or anyone really) who are exposed to "Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood" and other little kid shows to post crazy theories, jokes and other amusing interpretive content. General reactions and commiserations (AKA mild shitposting) to kid's being hooked on these nifty-galifty shows are also welcomed.
December 2, 20241 yr My 2YO grandson just wants to watch firetrucks/police cars/ airplanes on YoutubeTV; Firebuds( tolerable,) Bluey( some good hidden adult humor,) and Blippy( love the content, but the execution makes me wish for my own.) There's a lot more good stuff out there compared to the late 90's with our kids.

I get that he apologized and it was years ago and we've all done things we regret, but at least we weren't filming ourselves doing the stupid shit. 17 hours ago, Iceman said: There's a lot more good stuff out there compared to the late 90's with our kids. Check out the PBS Kids app - it's fantastic. He seems like he's a prime candidate for the Thomas the Train stuff. I had the chance to take my oldest to Toys R Us a few times, to the Thomas the Train/Tank Engine aisle, and picked him up way too many trains, but he loved the hell out of them. And you'll be watching Bluey for years to come.

December 7, 20241 yr We travelled to Texas for Thanksgiving, and 4 different times (including absolute strangers at the airport) parents of older children asked me to explain what kind of dark magic our stroller was But really it was great - the little guy didn’t even have to get out of his seat after the plane landed. Out the car, rolled through he airport, down the jetway, carried onto the plane, strapped into the plane seat, carried out, strolled through the airport, and then seatbelt installled in the rental. We inherited one of those from a friend for our 2nd child. They're great, but I probably looked like a kidnapper when I tried to fold it up the first time. Because why figure it out before being in public?

There is a scene where Stitch falls off a high point into some clouds (presumably to his death) and my kiddo yelled “Stitch, NO!!!” It was the first time I remember her actually being able to follow a movie - before that they were too long for her.
December 20, 20241 yr Popular Post This 2 month old just checked in at 13.8 pounds, 25 inches. 99% head size. 99% in size. Just an absolute unit for being born 4 weeks early. Somehow had the phone out to capture. Heart is so full looking at it!
December 22, 20241 yr My wife will be working on 1/1. Which means I will have my first opportunity to watch the 2.5 year-old and 3 month-old by myself, while also attempting to watch the playoff game. Considering the toddler's favorite activity currently is to fuck shit up and try to get himself hurt, I foresee this going great.

I took my paternity leave at like 5 months after my second born (teacher wife, timed it perfect re summer break). Eldest stuck herself with epipen auto injector. I had to call grandma to watch baby while I took kiddo to ER. I had kinda hoped everyone forgot until my daughter (almost 15) suddenly mentioned "remember when you took my to the hospital amd forgot my shoes." Had not talked about in like 12 years. My fuckup might be her earliest memory. Grew out of the food allergy, thank god.

Hardest part of watching a game while watching the kids is getting the wife to leave you alone, so you’re off to the right start.
December 23, 20241 yr My wife and I took our daughters (22 & 18) to the Nutcracker ballet matinee today. My eldest just drank ginger ale, but my 18 year old used her fake ID to buy us both double G&T's, and we cracked wise during the second act. Now we're going to Chuy's. Fun day.
