Is it because of his looks, his personalty? Seriously though, he was a crap player. Also, he's only 35 years old. If he was any good, he'd still be playing, right? He's also an idiot:

October 12, 20196 yr Author Man this is shades of the late 90s Rangers vs the Yankees level of failure to score.
October 12, 20196 yr I think our best chance to score is hitting fly balls that they lose in the sun.
October 12, 20196 yr Thank you, Cardinals, for usurping the ‘98 Astros in the category of “worst postseason offensive performance “
October 12, 20196 yr That was a bitchass lack of effort by SotoListening to Nats announcers and they barely contain their frustration I have a feeling they said that exact phrase during the break
October 12, 20196 yr Wooo!!! Another hit!!!! FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK YEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

October 12, 20196 yr 3 times as many hits as game 1! Wouldn't want to be the G3 starter for the Nats facing this rapidly improving offense. Edited October 12, 20196 yr by Beau Vine

Looks like they corrected it but it could have happened if they were hitless in the last 10 PA prior to the perfect game and then hitless in the first 10 PA in the game after the perfect game.
October 13, 20196 yr Couldn’t imagine taking both in StL with Stras and Corbin coming for games 3 and 4.

October 14, 20196 yr StL’s Twitter guy apparently can’t figure out decent graphics. Martinez in for Carp. Quote CF D. Fowler S 2B Kolten Wong L 1B P. Goldschmidt R LF M. Ozuna R C Y. Molina R RF J. Martinez R 3B Tommy Edman S SS Paul DeJong R P J. Flaherty R
October 14, 20196 yr Steamer projected wRC+ for the Cards' lineup tonight: CF D. Fowler S (101) 2B Kolten Wong L (101) 1B P. Goldschmidt R (129) LF M. Ozuna R (121) C Y. Molina R (92) RF J. Martinez R (108) 3B Tommy Edman S (93) SS Paul DeJong R (103) Really only two solidly above average hitters, although no real gaping holes outside of 3B with Molina's offense being above average at C. Good thing they made the Ozuna and Goldschmidt trades or that would be one truly average ass lineup.
October 14, 20196 yr Author Robles is back in CF for the Nationals so Michael A. Taylor is back to the bench. Between Flaherty and Strasburg this game should feature very few runs.

October 15, 20196 yr Soto tried to go to 1st on a 2-1 pitch, that’s a new one. He’s quickly approaching Puig territory
October 15, 20196 yr Hey, multiple incidents of bats making contact with the baseball. Baby steps, Cardinals.
