Had no idea about this

On this day in 1969, the Historic ‘Wyoming Black 14’ Protests Began. 14 black football players at the University of Wyoming were kicked off the team for trying to protest against Brigham Young University because of the Mormon Church ban on Black men in the priesthood THREAD!

For the first time since BYU started playing football in 1922, a black quarterback will start for the Cougars on Saturday.

Who knew Wyoming had 14 black players in 1969? Roughly the same as 2023 it seems.

Not a good look

Jane Doe A.G. said in her lawsuit that she was connected with police after she had a rape kit exam done at a hospital days after the alleged assault, but initially withheld Retzlaff’s name.

The woman did eventually tell Provo police Retzlaff’s name, the lawsuit states, after an officer asked her who he was because “someone else filed a complaint against a football player and the police wanted to see if it was the same person.” The lawsuit says the officer then encouraged her not to do anything, saying “sexual assault victims never get justice.”

BYU and Provo police did not respond to multiple requests for comment Wednesday.

That’s at the very least an honor code violation and grounds for expulsion. Didn’t they kick out their star basketball player right before the NCAA tourney a few years back for having consensual sex with his girlfriend?

So, was it the same person?

Someone’s never dealt with the police before… it was just a lie they told her to get a name.
