Holy shit, yee of little faith. We're committed. Maybe committed to an ignited rollercoaster screaming through twists, turns and tunnels of COVID-laced air and videos on repeat of scat porn, futureman and videos of your parents banging, but committed nonetheless.

How many times have see seen someone post on other boards about purported tOSU big wigs and other Urban connections who were absolutely convinced Meyer would never do such a thing? Tack on a face/name and a crying Jordan meme and all of a sudden our pets' heads are falling off and we're packing it up?

Stay. The. Course. Be. Patient.

Yes, until we start reading inside practice reports in August talking about how head coach Dave Wannstedt has these guys flying around the field and this is the best we've looked in 20 years.

The Urban Meyer chronicles have occupied the minds of Texas fans for weeks now, especially following the loss to Iowa State. There have been percentages and guesstimations about confidence levels ranging all over the place, some favorable, some not. Our Super K has reported he believes it to be around 40%. However, I want to focus on the perplexing situation Texas may find itself in if Urban Meyer does in fact decline the offer to be the next coach at The University of Texas.

A source close to upper administration at UT shared with me some concerns about other coaching options and their potential view on the Texas job should the Longhorns be forced to expand their search.

The source started off saying they do not believe the University has done a good job handling the situation. Shocking right? In addition, they stated that by Texas putting all of their eggs in the Urban Meyer basket, it was setting Texas up for failure if Meyer said no.

While Texas is still a very attractive college football coaching job, the Longhorns will have to combat potential coaching hires knowing they were second options and/or back-up plans.

There was a vote of confidence in Athletic Director Chris Del Conte mentioned by the source. However, the publicity of the Urban coaching search has not been met with much approval, specifically with Meyer being able to essentially pick his price.

While I believe the chance of Urban pursuing the Texas HC position with faux interest as minute, that topic has been discussed according to the source.

If Texas were to miss on Urban, the source indicated that Florida HC Dan Mullen would be under serious consideration to be the next head coach at Texas. Currently, Mullen is 7–1 right now and has Florida ranked sixth in the country.

With all this said, the source concluded with Texas landing Urban at a 60-40 confidence scale

aggy figured out flight?

Cater to fanbase, and say Urban is going/not going. Regardless of what happens, you win new follows. If you're right, people assume you have inside access. If wrong, you just say Texas upped the offer or the family vetoed at last minute and avoid accountability.

@closetojumping mentioned a while back that Phil Knight was pushing Meyer to UT. The 'pro-Texas' influence might be him

Hate to say I told you so, but yeah. Some of you owe me an apology. Wish I had put some money on Herman as Texas HC 2021.

Let this forever be a lesson that all the flightaware tracking (has that ever once proven accurate/useful?) and all the ambiguous wife tweets in the world are meaningless without concrete info. Meyer and his wife were probably never even in Texas, much less HSB. Somewhere, @futureman’s asshole weeps tears of joy.

Fuck off. There’s a big difference between urban not coaching here (which remains up in the air) and Herman being back in 2021.

Incoming rationalization/possible denial post: I don't know why we should give a shit what Kirk Barton has to say. It's all based on one random IT poster who joined this week saying he's the go-to insider for OSU and Urban Meyer news but the guy has barely 4K twitter followers. His site that the IT guy claims has all the most accurate info has under 10K. For comparison sake Bucknuts has 27K. Fat Ketch has 22K for christ sake.

Guy also claims he's "good friends" with Urban and Shelley but nether seems to follow him on twitter. We may be in for disappointment, but Kirk Barton doesn't know anything more than we do at this point.

TFB continues to offer up the stupidest goddamn bullshit.  We still have Tom Herman employed, everyone who matters has been silenced, and the only people who even know that a search is going on are those on message boards.  How the fuck else are we supposed to handle the pursuit?  And whatever will we do if Matt Campbell realizes he was a second choice to URBAN MEYER???

Sure. When Texas prospers, Nike prospers. Also Knight doesn't want us to try and steal away Cristobal from Oregon.
