October 28, 20196 yr We're selling an old car to a 3rd party and I'm trying to make sure we don't take any false steps. It's a cash deal. If I draw up a bill of sale, take the cash, and sign over the title, what responsibility do I have as far as the new owner getting the vehicle titled in his name, as well as paying the sales tax, which he has agreed to do? Do I need to go to the DMV with him so nothing goes sideways? It feels like I have exposure if I don't physically see the DMV witness the title exchange (or whatever it is they do). Advice is appreciated.
October 28, 20196 yr Do this https://webdealer.txdmv.gov/title/publicVehicleTransfer.do And none. Also, you should provide a form 130 in addition to a signed title certificate. https://www.txdmv.gov/motorists/buying-or-selling-a-vehicle Edited October 28, 20196 yr by TwiceHorn

October 28, 20196 yr Tell the buyer up front and go ahead a Remove your license plates off the car and take them with you. At a minimum, this will keep you from having to deal with dealing with toll road issues.
October 30, 20196 yr Don't forget your stash under the carpet in the trunk. But be sure to leave the body in there; carpet rolled up around it optional.Sent from my SM-G950U1 using Tapatalk
October 30, 20196 yr On the way to delivery get some fast food, new car owners love the smell of greasy burgers and fries.
October 30, 20196 yr Take your cash payment from the buyer inside your bank and walk it directly to the teller. Evil people will club you over the head to steal the cash from you at your house.
