what in the actual fuck did he just say

He said he agreed with MLB, but he was going to take further steps than MLB penalties. Fired Hinch and Luhnow.

Have to give credit to Crane. He's taking full responsibility and wants to move the organization forward.

  • Here's the thing that makes me absolutely livid about this... Cheating happens all the time in baseball. At all levels. All levels. The MLB itself cheats the game by juicing the ball. Players juiced t

It's not the end, I agree. The Astros are still sacks of giant shit, though.  Shame on them.

Very sad to see that the Astros are basically dipshit cheaters from the top down. Hey, at least the Black Sox are happy that someone else is wearing their crown of infamy.

I look forward to being able to afford to take the whole family to games again

2024-2026 gonna look like 2011-2013

City is slowly back to becoming the dumpster fire for sports it has been

Crane just went full Jerry Jones.

1) The loss of draft picks is by far the most consequential part of this. That is an excessive penalty. Boston better get something comparable.

2) So no impact on international signing ability? Hopefully this can partially offset the loss of draft picks (I know they can sign these guys anyway, but fuzzy about the spending caps, etc...is it possible to devote more resources to this for next couple of seasons?).

3) What does suspending a GM even mean? He can't get paid or communicate with the FO? Lunhow going to use Cricket burner phones all season

4) Not too worried about Hinch being absent. It isn't good, but hardly catastrophic

5) How motherfucking great would it be to watch Manfred have to hand the trophy over to the Astros in October?

Ok never mind on those 2...

I had also heard that Crane had a shit ton of dirt on Manfred.

WTF does this mean?

Time to rebuild?

edit: I guess we can’t without draft picks. Rebuild in 2022

Your turn John Henry. Cora absolutely hated Crane's announcement.

You need to catch up a bit

Incorrect, firing your manager and gm is the biggest impact of all this

Points 3 and 4 just went out the fucking window.

Non-issue now.

Red Sox press is already calling for Cora’s head

Ummmm, Astros still top 5 team by any metric.

If you think any batter could hear a damn trash can being banged in Game 5 then you're not very bright.

The fuck man! Firing Luhnow and Hinch. What a fucking overreaction. Luhnow is the architect of greatness. God damn it I hate sports. Fuck

3pm 1/12/20 - 3pm 1/13/20 has to be the new leader for worst 24 hours in Houston sports history

....and there is still 45 minutes to go!

Yep. Springer, Altuve, Correa, Bregman, Osuna, Pressly, Verlander, Greinke are all in the top 5ish for their position in baseball. Astros will still run away with their division, and be a hard out in the playoffs.

biggest winner in all of this?  Bill O'Brien.  ain't nobody in Houston talking about yesterday's debacle anymore.

It's not an overreaction. The 2 people that could have stopped the cheating did nothing.

So 2 out of 3 pro sports in Houston are without a GM, and Just a couple months ago Morrey was nearly fired by the NBA for pissing off China. Houston sports y’all!

Rehire Nolan. He'll clean the place up.

My God our organizations is in tatters now. I fucking feel sick. I met Luhnow at alumni events and he was a great guy. Got to try on his championship ring and took pictures with the WS trophy with him. Fuck Crane for doing this. Best GM we ever had in any sport. Watch us get stuck with some Tim Purpura like clown instead.

Had to fire them. Crane would've been a dumbass not to.

On to the next one. While I hate to see Luhnow go, we are still a great team and 3putt could probably manage us to the AL west title.

LOLz.  It took Jerry Jones 5 years to fire a coach who didn't do jack shit on the won-loss column.

Flags fly forever

The line will be out the door for the Astros GM job. We'll be fine .

Luhnow either knew about it and did nothing or had no idea something like this was going on. Neither one is good, and either one is enough to justify termination.

Icono cares way more about winning.  This was necessary and real accountability.

Does this mean that opening day tickets will be a little cheaper ?

Firing Hinch was the right call firing Luhnow was the wrong call. Hiring his son over Reid Ryan also the wrong call.

Hitting .333 as a player is great. As an owner not so much

He not only denied involvement, he also denied knowledge of it.
