October 31, 20196 yr Just as the title says, I need some recommendations for a good, fairly quick lunch spot in San Antonio which is open on Sunday and kid friendly. I wanted Chris Madrid’s, but they aren’t open on Sunday so might do that for dinner Saturday night. Appreciate the help.
October 31, 20196 yr Jacala off West Ave. Pretty good Mexican food. Edited October 31, 20196 yr by Ag with kids
October 31, 20196 yr Los Barrios used to be a good spot with kids and no fighting the downtown crowd.
October 31, 20196 yr The Pig Pen is great with kids; has a good playground. You can either order food from the bbq trailer on site (limited menu) or order to-go from the Smoke Shack and eat it at the Pig Pen (they are next door to each and owned by the same couple). The Cove has a good playground and pretty good food. Tycoon Flats is another option, though I might choose something else if you are eating Chris Madrid's on the same trip. The playground is geared for younger children there. As mentioned above, Los Barrios is great if you are in that area.
October 31, 20196 yr The cold front doesn't allow for this, but Pearl Brewery is a fun place for kids with a splash pad and food court (Bottling Department) with options for everyone. You can also walk down to the prettiest part of the river and watch the ducks. They also have a mini version of the Congress Ave bat flight further down. Another cool place with a playground is the Friendly Spot in Southtown.
October 31, 20196 yr The Cove is cool if you have young kids (that want to play on a playground). Good food, decent bar and you can sit outside while the kids do whatever. If you want BBQ your best bet is 2M Smokehouse
October 31, 20196 yr Author Thanks y’all. I think we will he able to pick something out of all these great suggestions. 2M is always a good thought, but my girls probably aren’t as enthusiastic about bbq as I am. Also Sunday 2M is only doing phone in orders.
October 31, 20196 yr In my opinion, the best meal in town is at Southerleigh at the Pearl: https://www.southerleigh.com/location/southerleigh-at-pearl/. Unpretentious and you don't pay fine dining prices. Local (when possible) meats and produce and they fly the seafood in fresh each day. Beer is brewed in house.
