May 27May 27 I made it all the way thru FoY. It is so over the top it’s basically like Naked Gun, minus the comedy.

May 27May 27 Did anyone notice that the ending of Fountain of Youth Spoiler ... was a direct and complete ripoff of The Last Crusade? Jim Halpert was shot so that he would need the healing powers of the fountain. Then the main bad guy tries it out and ages really rapidly for about 15 seconds before exploding. Then they leave without the McGuffin, but yet somehow wiser.

It is fascinating that so far, the majority of the TV shows are pretty darn good, but the movies have had a harder time finding pop culture success.

From what I recall, the ones they did release theatrically had horrible box office numbers, so they shifted their future movies to streaming only via Apple TV+ At least they're not doing the HBO thing where they shelf the finished project as a tax write-off. I will give Apple credit for still releasing them, even if they get panned as bad.

May 28May 28 I don’t understand what apple is doing. Throwing lots of money at content with good production quality but the writing is just WTF on their shit. Especially on their movies. They are so closing to doing something great but it always seems to fall short

Netflix had this problem with I want to say DreamWorks and a couple of other companies where said companies could just pump out whatever and Netflix had to accept it.
May 29May 29 I loved The Office when it was on but I’m super over Jim Halpert. Why do they keep trying to make him a movie star? He sucks.

May 30May 30 While looking for something to watch last night came across this, which is from 2022 it’s 4 1 hour episodes, watched 2 so far and have enjoyed. I can’t believe I’d never heard about this (show and the story) before now.

June 4Jun 4 owen's character isn't nearly as likable as ted. more like tin cup as a wannabe golf coach. the mom has a great rack though.
June 4Jun 4 lol FoY was pretty bad…It was lazy Indiana Jones meets National Treasure meets The Mummy, but removing the good writing and creativity and for some reason removing Guy Ritchie dialogue…

I can't believe they filmed that script.

I didn’t get Roy McAvoy vibes at all (Jesus that’s been 30 years!) we just got Owen playing his same only character. We endured the suckage about 15 minutes and bailed.

June 8Jun 8 Tried to start Murderbot last night and it was so bad I only made it 10 minutes before stopping. It was one of those awkward shows/movies that you think is supposed to be funny but I couldn’t find a single line worth even snickering at. Not sure if it’s actually that bad or if I didn’t give it enough time or if I’m not the target audience. Oh well.Switched to Friends and Neighbors instead and wife and I both enjoyed the first episode. We were reluctant to start it because the trailer looked like generic cheese, but it was better than expected. We’ve also watched a few episodes of Carême and we’re liking it okay.

June 9Jun 9 3 episodes is enough to have me pot committed, so I'm probably in for the long haul on Stick. It's insanely embellished and unbelievable but Owen Wilson keeps it funny and as already mentioned; Mom is fucking hot.

Extremely positive coach haunted by some dark shit in his past. Spoiler The dead kid is a pretty tough hang for a Lasso/Tin Cup remake. Is losing a kid and then becoming a surrogate father a more interesting story than party animal loses his golf career and seeks a second chance via coaching? I’d argue it doesn’t really matter with this cast. I enjoyed Season 1 of Lasso, but I bailed during Season 2 when it went dark with Ted’s mental health struggles. I hope Stick threads the needle better.
