Agree... Aranda coached this guy

https://247sports.com/college/lsu/Article/LSU-safety-Eric-Monroe-enters-NCAA-Transfer-Portal-148354740/

The news of Monroe's departure comes soon after the Tigers began voluntary summer workouts in Baton Rouge. Monroe is set to be a senior with one year of eligibility remaining after taking a redshirt at LSU during his first season in 2016. Monroe then saw the field across three seasons from 2017-19, where he saw action in 29 games with 21 tackles, one tackle for loss and two pass breakups.

Monroe appeared in all 13 games and made a start against Auburn during his redshirt freshman season in 2017, but was slowed in 2018 by injuries and appeared in just four games. During LSU's run to a National Championship this past season, Monroe played in 12 games, seeing time in the defensive backfield and on special teams.

The Houston (Texas) North Shore product was one the No. 1 safety in the country on 247Sports coming out of high school in the 2016 class, choosing the Tigers over Texas A&M and double-digit other scholarships. He was ranked by the 247Sports Composite as the nation's No. 55 overall prospect and the No. 3 safety in the country.

Texas Tech lands graduate transfer from Alabama Chadarius Townsend to backfield

Jun 19, 2020

Associated Press

LUBBOCK, Texas -- Texas Tech is adding Alabama graduate transfer Chadarius Townsend, who was used sparingly at running back by the Crimson Tide and has two years of eligibility remaining.

Townsend was a standout high school quarterback in Alabama before joining the Crimson Tide in 2017. After a redshirt season, he split time at running back and receiver while also playing special teams for two years. He had eight carries for 22 yards last season.

Coach Matt Wells has now added a grad transfer at running back in each of his two offseasons with the Red Raiders. Armand Shyne came over from Utah last year and finished second on the team with 374 yards rushing.

SaRodorick Thompson led Texas Tech with 765 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground as a redshirt freshman last year. He was the eighth player to lead the Red Raiders in rushing as a freshman. Another freshman, Ta'Zhawn Henry, was third behind Shyne.

Townsend, who got his degree in human environmental science in three years, is the fourth graduate transfer to join Texas Tech this offseason. The others are linebacker Brandon Bouyer-Randle (Michigan State), offensive lineman Josh Burger (Wofford) and linebacker Jacob Morgenstern (Duke).

6’8”? I didn’t know that stacked poutine that high.

From TCU 247 / Jeremy Clark.

Spoiler

TCU backup quarterback Matthew Baldwin is hanging up his cleats due to injuries, multiple sources confirmed to HornedFrogBlitz on Thursday. Those same sources told Baldwin will take a medical and still remain a student at TCU. Baldwin confirmed the news to HornedFrogBlitz as well.

"Very thankful to TCU for the opportunities and will be involved with the program and help as much as I can," he said in a text.

Baldwin dealt with multiple injuries the past two seasons including a knee injury that forced him to miss all of 2019.

One of the most heavily-recruited quarterbacks from the 2018 class, Baldwin led Lake Travis to a deep run in the Class 6A playoffs as a senior. He threw for 3,842 yards with 44 touchdowns to just six interceptions as a senior. He was ranked as the No. 10 pro-style quarterback in the nation according to 247Sports. He chose Ohio State over several other options. Unfortunately, he did not see any game action as a collegiate player.

Baldwin announced his transfer from Ohio State to TCU in May of 2019 after redshirting his first year in Columbus. He showed promise in the spring of 2019 and competed with Justin Fields for the starting quarterback position for the Buckeyes. However, Fields was named as the starting quarterback at the conclusion of spring camp. Baldwin entered the NCAA transfer portal a short time later.

The former four-star out of Lake Travis arrived on campus in the fall and was expected to compete for the starting job for the Frogs. However, Baldwin had a procedure done over the summer which was confirmed by head coach Gary Patterson during last year’s Big 12 media days. The procedure forced Baldwin to miss fall camp and ultimately ruining any shot he had at competing for a starting position.

Baldwin applied for a waiver to have immediate eligibility once he got to TCU. After initially getting declined by the NCAA in early August, the waiver was officially granted on September 1.

Although he was able to compete, injuries still plagued Baldwin’s return. He did not see any game action in 2019.

Baldwin’s injuries persisted in the spring as Patterson told the media prior to spring camp that Baldwin would not be participating. There was hope he could return in the fall but word started to filter out that Baldwin was still not completely healthy over the summer.

With the loss of Baldwin, the Frogs now have four scholarship quarterbacks on the roster. The good news is they return last season’s starter Max Duggan. Others on the roster include former walk-on Matthew Downing, JUCO signee Stephon Brown and 2020 signee Eli Williams. Brown was rated as the No. 1 JUCO quarterback in the nation according to 247Sports.

Yeah, I am bummed. His knee still isnt right and that caused some major back issues which still need to be worked out. This was a quality of life decision - being able to walk and function normally moving forward.

Jaquaylyn Crawford officially to Arkansas.

Does the Federal Correctional Institute in Seagoville ever pluck guys from the transfer portal?

A couple weeks back Brooks posted some snaps complaining about being drug tested.  He claimed that weed helped him get through tough times and something about how ridiculous it was.

Was waiting for this news.

Roach on Mariel Brooks

I checked around and at this point, I’d be surprised if Texas got seriously involved. I’d bet on TCU to be the final destination with OU as the other school I’ve heard about.

Word is that's why he transferred high schools. It was swept under the rug but it was pretty widely known.

I dunno, he seems to like people who don't have interest in him.

Wasn't it necessary to employ multiple rugs in his case?

From tigerdroppings on Brooks:

“I transferred to be closer to my family. A lot of personal stuff going on in the world. And I don’t want to be 6 hours away from them. So just trying to get closer.”

Norman is close than Baton Rouge (5 hrs vs 10), but I hope OU stays far away from him.

The fact that he threw Texas in this means he has no idea what he’s talking about. Shocked face I know.

He threw Texas in hopes of claiming a win in recruiting over the Horns if Brooks ends up at blOU...

(Doesn't matter that Texas is not currently recruiting Brooks -- "don't let the facts get in the way of a good story" signed 9.95ers)

He’s from Flower Mound, 2.5 hours vs 6.5 hours.

didn't remember Crossley as a 4* went and looked and 247 had him as one but not the composite. Also - that year's ranking is fucking brutal. the overranking by Rivals of the OU leans/guys and the Elko aggy stuff made for a nonsensical finish. Crossley at 31 with Roschon at 41 and Jamal Morris at 43? Just so many oofs. Arjei Henderson at 34. OOOOOF.
