Agree - when I think of Mike Bloomberg:

Love that Bloomberg is paying $150 a tweet for funny memes. That should go well for him.

Because tone is more important to *some Democrats* -  just remind them Mike Bloomberg is:

Innovative
Nice
Energetic
Perceptive
Substantive
Terrific
Empowering
Intelligent
Neat
Supportive
Brilliant
Original
One of a Kind
Knowledgeable

Because he is in there.

And - Billionaires like Mike have a role to play in society - we need them just in case. Bloomberg is :

A non-vote for the Democrat (Green, Libertardian, no vote) is a win for Trump.

Double the class sizes with only good teachers.

Many of you think this man is smart.

Stop the bullshit.

Bloomberg is better than trump but that’s like saying my most recent fart smelled better than the post Mexican food buffet fart from last week after I raised the flag.

If Bloomberg had run and won in 2016 for whichever party his re-election would be a slam dunk. As it is, he’s a much wealthier, much smarter, much better version of trump. That’s a low bar.

Worse if he were to win it means you can buy an election.

I don’t think he wins. I hope not.

It’s nothing like that.  When you fart the Trump fart you get a massive nonreducible rectal prolapse.  But it smells bad as does the Bloomberg fart.  Still, not the same thing.

He's gonna win the nom. The DNC ain't gonna let Bernie swindle all that cash. Boomerberg would be putting money into the DNC, like how Hillary bought the nomination.

Was too tired to attend the Bloomberg for Black America event in Houston last night...I did tune in to KCOH, Houston's oldest black radio station, and its most political, this afternoon, and they were talking about Bloomberg and the whole field. The station skews 40-up, all likely voters.

Michael Harris, the host, seemed to be in the bag already for Bloomberg. He attended the shindig last night and appreciated the fact that Bloomberg had it in the first place ("It's nice to be noticed even if you might be getting lied to," he said, or words to that effect. True. See Hillary and the Rust Belt.) He was also impressed that the food and swag was free. Not that he got stickers, dinner and a T-shirt for free, but that this largesse stood in contrast to rallies held by other "billionaires" who wanted you to line their pockets while on the campaign trail. Stop and frisk was in the past and Bloomberg had apologized and grown since then, he said, and the fact that Bloomberg had a plan for black America and was having events like this counted for something more than other Dems taking the black vote for granted.

His co-host, a woman who was probably younger than Harris (who must be in his 70s), said she preferred Sanders on policy but doubted he could win. And if that was the case she might consider Bloomberg a decent fallback. (kind of my position too.)

The callers were more skeptical. One said he would sit out the election if Bloomberg were the candidate. He took some shit from Harris and the woman from that and kind of backed off, but not totally: he said that was what he, personally would do, but was not condoning anyone else doing it, because getting Trump out was key. I listened in on a couple more and none were as enthusiastic as Harris, but open to persuasion.

And then I got home and opened up my Facebook and saw this posted by a black friend:

I never lived in NYC, but even I was stopped and frisked in NYC (while visiting) during Bloomberg’s administration. Say he gets the Dem nomination, what kind of choice am I left with come November 2020?

This dude is a Ph.D.

And that sucks, and I don't know what to tell him.

Krystal Ball asked progressives/DSA fans to vote on what they would do if it was Trump versus Bloomberg. With almost 60000 votes cast and 8 hours to go it was.

Bloomberg 26.4%

Trump 10.9%

Stay Home 62.7%

Well the good news is that we're only two states into this primary cycle. This comment though, I've seen so much of this on twitter from black and brown men who were stopped in NYC during Bloomberg's administration and they are simply trying to amplify their message so that at the very least we aren't having to choose between him and Trump in November.

Benjamin Dixon, the man who simply took the video of his Aspen Institute comments and shared it on twitter that went viral, lives in Atlanta and has said he's trying to mend any friendships he's lost over this primary to at the very least ensure that Bloomberg isn't the nominee. He got attacked for being a Bernie guy and a progressive on that stupid CNN clip, and right now he's trying his damnedest to get the word out to hopefully combat Bloomberg's advertising campaign.

Explain what you think you mean by this.

Because it seems to me that their dominant position in your every waking thought means they understand it far better than you do.

Progressives:

Dramatically changed the basic policy platform of one of the two major American political parties and then launched a 78-year-old socialist into the cat bird's seat for a presidential nomination.

Libertarians:

You cannot accomplish anything in this country politically unless you have power. You cannot gain power unless you win elections. Not voting for the Democratic nominee, no matter who it is, means that you are ceding power to the opposition.

You can't win an election if you don't vote.

Just off the top of my head, Mike Bloomberg would advance progressive goals on gun control and climate change.

I'd be interested to see a list of things you progressive goals Mike Bloomberg would actually fight for. And also a list of things that Mike Bloomberg would do that would either ignore or actively thwart progressive goals.

In the development of that list, I would be interested to know if you were to go off of his decades-established record as a thinker/leader or just the sales job he's been doing in the last few months.

I have creeping suspicions.

Is your goal to convince never-Bloombergs? Or is your goal to just get into Internet fights?

I respect either goal, but if you want to convince never-Bloombergs then understanding the problem they have with voting for Bloomberg might be helpful. Again, just some friendly advice if persuasion is your actual goal.

I understand why they won't vote for Bloomberg. I also understand that's how you lose.

If Bloomberg is nominated I'll vote for Trump out of pure spite.
