April 7, 20187 yr I was quoting Police Academy the other day ("not on broccoli, not on cauliflower)- was thinking about showing it to my 13 yo and 9yo. I can't remember much about it. Is it fairly clean? also reminds me of one of my favorite Simpsons quotes: Homer Simpson: STEALING! How could you? Why do you think I took you to see all those "Police Academy" movies, FOR FUN? I DIDN'T HEAR ANYONE LAUGHING, DID YOU?
April 7, 20187 yr I tried showing the original Karate Kid to my 11 yo a couple of years ago and it didn't go over well. She did love Goonies, back to the future and Gremlins though

Why do you think I took you to see all those "Police Academy" movies, FOR FUN? I DIDN'T HEAR ANYONE LAUGHING, DID YOU? There was some minor nudity in the scene where Mahoney is peeping into the women's shower. The blow job (implied) when the hooker is hiding in the podium. I think it only had a few f bombs.

Watched this with my kid a few months ago. The thing that struck me was how the dad - the main antagonist of the whole movie - was surprisingly sympathetic. He was a guy trying to do a good thing but didnt realize he had gone too far, and in the end recognized his mistake and changed. Those nuances are missing from modern movies where antagonists must be destroyed rather than reasoned with. Kind of cool
April 7, 20187 yr 1 hour ago, Billy Pilgrim said: PG movies back then were completely different Yeah, there were quite a few PG movies that actually showed boob. Even Goonies had a lot more mildly bad language than I remembered, I was recently watching it with my 8yo son and 10yo daughter and I had to keep telling them in asides, "Don't say that!"
April 7, 20187 yr Night Shift Uncle Buck Beetlejuice Porky's Big Fast Times Planes, Trains & Automobiles(John Hughes was shit? What a stupid motherfucker).
April 7, 20187 yr Raising Arizona and About Last Night. The best opening sequences ever and both of them from the 80's
