When I was looking up my cousin, I came across this:
Meanwhile, Diamond Land Company LLC, managed by Donald Feinstein, continues to unload Wendy’s locations, this time selling the 5322 Essen Lane location for $1.5 million to Wendy’s International LLC. In July, Diamond sold to a Slidell developer a vacant building near the Florida Boulevard and Sharp Road intersection that was previously a Wendy’s. And In March, Diamond sold another former Wendy’s restaurant at 3322 Lake St. for $825,000 to an LLC managed by the owners of Louie’s Café. Louie’s has since relocated to that space from its longtime nearby home at 209 W. State St.
He was an attorney by trade and made his money off of the Wendy's real estate rather than off the profits of his Wendy's. I don't know the EBITDA but those sales prices seem to reflect the value of the properties.

Yup. We see it often that people want to sell their business but don’t realize the RE is the more profitable play.

title should reflect that  the DQ owned by Vasari are the ones going out of business.  the rest of them are not.

I can still get my steak fingers?

This thread has really hit me in the feels.

My grandparents would always take us to the one in Mart when we would spend the night.

I would get a country basket, a couple quarters for the Simon game in the corner and if I begged a blizzard.

My grandmother lived in Haskell.  My granddad died before I was born and she remarried a real nice gentleman and farmer from Haskell.  He used to go to the Haskell DQ every day for coffee.  He would take us with him.  But those old timers would go there every day and just shoot the bull.

Wife was out of town this past weekend. I actually had to work all day Sunday. Went by DQ on the way home, got a steak finger basket for dinner. Damn…it was exactly as I remembered.

We are seeing new DQ in the OKC metro. They are all franchises owned by the same dude. Nonetheless, good to know I can get a Blizzard any time.

You got a chili cheese burrito at DQ? And not a chocolate dipped cone?

The DQ in Austin on Burnet at Ohlen is really solid. Used to eat there every now and then when I lived in the area.

Almost certain that I’ve never stopped at DQ without ordering a hungerbuster and fries. DQ was the food stop for any and all sporting events up until high school. Football, baseball, basketball, and soccer.  These were school events, mainly north of DFW. My family chose Brahms.

My wife, otoh, could tell you which DQs between SA and Austin, west of 35 and east of Kerrville, had the “good ice,” and was jealous of Brahms’ quality.

We stop at the one in Lockhart often and it’s solid.

We have eaten at the one on the highway in/near Austwell-Tivoli and it was also solid.

The one in dripping springs was a total shitshow before it closed.

The one in Kyle always has a line of cars going through the drive through.  Inside is pretty busy as well.

Favorite DQ... the one in Jackson, Wy.  You almost feel like you need to see a hostess or maitre'd when you walk in.

The one on Stassney is great, too.  Mayfield ones are usually pretty good.

The liquor store right next to it is great too. #HealthyLivin

I go by the one in Tivoli all the time. Never stopped there but man that has to be the smallest town I’ve seen one in.

Hopefully you stop at Canales Cafe now and then.  That place is a great hole in the wall.

The waitresses have aged though.  In fairness so have I.

When they turn the pages of history

When these days have passed long ago

Will they read of us with sadness

For the blizzards that we served?

We turned our cream

From the in the distance

Up side down

On the path of least resistance

Every time this thread hits the top half the page it makes me want a damn blizzard. I think the one off Stassney will be getting a visit so my kids can appreciate the greatness this week.

Shit, we should open Surly DQs. I think the wreath fund can cover this.

A liquidation auction is currently taking place. The "complete contents" of the local locations are up for auction, aside from Coke machines, CO2 tanks, tea brewers, ice machines and IT equipment.

As of Sunday late afternoon, the highest bid for the contents at the Sour Lake location was $520, $660 for the Dayton eatery, and $1,000 each for the Buna and Cleveland DQ locations.

We'd end up with some pedo tow truck driver selling dilly bars to kids. No thank you.
