A live action version would have been cool

Yeah the CGI dog is kinda rough. Sometimes trailers are released without the CGI completely finished. The final product might be a lot better.

heh

Ye gad that looks woke. Gimme Gable, Young and Oakie.

Scenery and story look good. CGI looks outright cartoonish.

Fuck that. What about all the real dogs who need a job?

no shit.  I thought technology was progressing?  the cgi in jurassic park in 1993 looked better than this.

There will be a day when we get a movie with an all CGI main character that is indistinguishable from a real actor/animal.   That day is NOT today.

Probably 3/4 of the time in this clip when the dog was on screen it didn't look/move/seem real.    I'm not even sure that they used a motion capture suit for some of this.

Solid 'A' for idea, "D-" for execution

One of favorite stories ever.  But I think I'll stick with the book

Dog looks like he belongs in a commercial for The General insurance.

Perhaps they'll CGI Harrison as a real pilot one day.

Does the dog die?  If the dog dies I'm not interested.  I'm still not over "My Dog Skip"

Yeah I am sure with a big enough budget you could probably make that happen today.  Look at The Lion King and what they are doing on The Irishman.  This thing probably didn't have their budgets though.

Spoiler

He gets laid

I don't think you  ever get over that last couple of scenes in My Dog Skip.

Remember, when reading as a young lad, loving the final lines of the book - with its great reference to the younger world:

But he is not always alone. When the long winter nights come on and the wolves follow their meat into the lower valleys, he may be seen running at the head of the pack through the pale moonlight or glimmering borealis, leaping gigantic above his fellows, his great throat a-bellow as he sings a song of the younger world, which is the song of the pack.

You’re going to want to skip Ol’ Yeller.

The dog itself looks ok, it's just the animation looks straight out of Looney Tunes. Maybe they should have motion captured a real dog.

don’t they have dog actors?  benji was a real dog.  they couldn’t have just used a real dog?  the whole thing is weird and looks like the polar express.

Didn't want to deal with PETA.

Get that hero dog that went on the raid that helped kill the mass murder asshole.
