can we put a stipulation in the next guy's contract that he has to hire a real staff?  the last two coaches have hired jerk off staffs and we've gotten jerk off results.

unfortunately, it looks like we need to mandate that the head coach actually try and hire the best staff possible and not just his drinking buddies.

Perhaps we could ask about plans for a staff in interviews and factor answers into the decision on who to hire to begin with?  Would something like that work?

Good, seasoned assistants aren’t going to jump ship to go work for a G5 coach in his first big gig.

I don't think a new HC intentionally goes out and hires his buddies unless he really feels like they are going to help him win. Maybe this whole UT gig thing is too much for them. I really did think Tom would do better than this and it just bumfugles me why his isn't.

Herman said he wasn’t leaving unless he could get Yancy to come. Well, Yancy came and we don’t seem any stronger or faster and certainly haven’t been able to stay healthy.

Assistants should be on 1 year contracts and if they don't produce good results then they get moved on but we know that won't happen. It's not realistic.

The next coach....

Can't get here soon enough for me.

No shit. A few more years of this and we can move the home games to House Park.

That Herman dictated anything in his hiring is another indictment of the Athletic Department.  A G5 Coach with no true skins on the wall should never tell a program like Texas what it would take to hire him.  Such a program should be telling such a coach, "this is what YOU need to do to get this job."

I just want the next coach to say Boomer Sooner Fuck You in the Cotton Bowl locker room postgame. To think we were so close to LSU solving the Herman problem for us.

If the next coach comes in talking about "alignment" lets make sure he has won something.  It serves you no good if you are aligned to someone who doesn't know what the fuck he is doing.

We should instead make it an interview question and a key criterion upon which to judge candidates.

I know a guy we can hire that you wouldn't have to put that stipulation in his contract because he already knows what he's doing.
