On Friday when the Longhorns take the field, I will be in the stadium with my wife and two daughters. I don't like the way the season has gone any more than the rest of you, but I don't miss a game if I can help it. This marks the 50th season that I've been going to Texas football games, including a 40 year stretch where I missed a total of 3 games. I even regret missing those. My dad started taking me to games regularly in 1969. He worked hard all the time but he made time for us to go to the home games and we had a great time. While the '69 and '70 seasons were special, I would have enjoyed them even if we had been losing. That hasn't changed for me in 50 years. The Longhorns are my team and if I were to live another 50 years I probably wouldn't  go to enough games to satisfy me.

At 59 the math is pretty simple, if I get to go until i'm 80, go to all the home games and OU that's 7 games a year for 21 years. 147 games, for me that's just not enough. You can stay home if you wish because we haven't notched a 10 win season or because you believe that it sends some kind of message, I think that you're cheating yourself out of a good time.

That '69 seasons first home game was against Tech, we beat them 49-7 and I got to see it with my dad. On Friday I get to see Texas vs.Tech with my family. Win or lose I'll support the Longhorns. Come out and join us, I'll be there.

good for you man, just super

Good for you. We gave up our season tickets in 2016 after having them since we were students in 1996. I really haven't missed it. I still watch all the games but now we go over to mdleast's house and have BBQ and beer every game. If you enjoy going to games still then more power to you. Just make sure to hook em high, like the eagle soars.

You my man, are to be admired. Enjoy the game with your family. That is all that matters.🤘

I’d prefer to watch games from home. My own bathroom, all that jazz.

Gave up our season tix after 2010 but this will be the first season since I was 2 or 3 that I won’t make a game in person (tried to make LSU happen).

Um, me too?

I didn't read your long ass post, but I figure the jist is that you'll be at the game. Me too. Off season is too damn long to not maximize the few Texas games we get.

I honestly wish I could still have fun at a game watching my team lose or play like shit.

Shoulda gone to the game.

We woulda told you that your full of shit for free.

I started going in 1957. Dad had season tickets, "the good seats" and I sat in the knot hole section, the north end zone. Later in life I got my own season tix in "the good seats". I saw lots of good times and lots of bad times, but I still got tears in my eyes when the band marched in before games. I would tell my wife, "This is what I do." Then, after 60 years, in Charlies second year, I couldn't justify spending $5,000+ per year for shit football.

Truth be told, as much as the shit football, the "atmosphere", mostly the deafening jumbotron, ran me off. I came to watch football but more and more got bread and circuses. I love football, but now it's all some variation of jet pack man.

I'm happy for those of you who can ignore the bread and circuses and still see the football...I simply lost my ability to do that.

I’ll be there too. Again. As always. Yes I’m fucking retarded.

It’s been my favorite thing in the world to do for quite some time, but I gave mine away. It’s over for me this year. I wouldn’t attend the bowl game if it was free and in walking distance. I’m ready for the 9 month break.

We picked this game to take the kids at the beginning of the season. It’s going to be cold and rainy, the horns suck (fuck you Tom Herman), and I’ve been sick for a week. But at the end of the day, the kids have been looking forward to it all season and don’t give a damn that the horns suck. Hook ‘em.

First the OP reads like aggy visiting team fan fiction

Second I’ll be there as well. All I have to say is the stadium better have stocked up on bourbon.

Third Happy Thanksgiving you glorious fucktards

OP's liver should be put in display in a museum after he croaks.

It’ll be 75 by the second half.

Ok, so just rainy

Endured KSU in the rain at DKR a few years ago. No wind, and not cold, so it wasn’t awful. The best part was most of the females literally just wearing shorts and bikini tops. I put on gym shorts, T-shirt, and flip flops and by halftime you forgot it was even raining.

Yo this some aggy shit

I’ll be there with my daughter. She’s a die hard fan and doesn’t care how bad they suck. We’ll try and talk two other family members to go with us, but I don’t think we’ll be successful. Actually,I’m looking forward to the relative peace and quiet of having godzillatron blare annoying ads at me

You've spelt "jizz" incorrectly.

This will be my 146th Longhorn game inside the state of Texas (home game/away games inside the state/OU games) in a row

I wouldnt miss these for the world, but its becoming much more of a bore/chore to go to these days.

that being said, i hope all u motherfuckers cancel ur season tickets so i can move down/even closer to the 50 this year

Maybe I have you confused with somebody else but are you going to the games and then sitting there and posting on the Internet the whole time?

Fuck the haters who make fun of supporting our team, especially on senior day.

Have fun, 927 E. 41st, be loud & proud!

I had season tix for 12 years, first in old section 12, row 12, seats 3 & 4. I loved the last original part of the stadium, they tore it down, then I moved to Section 7, row 7. I had some great times.

i still love the Horns, but 4 years ago, all my family & friends gave up theirs, so I gave mine up. 100 miles one way on game day was getting old. Hook ‘em!

Its not a museum. It’s called the hall of champions...dick.

Well Tom's going nowhere so you might as well get used to 4+ losses every year until he's gone. We might be right there with you once Burrow is gone.

What’s the LSU qb pipeline look like? I’d imagine you can find some guys from Texas used to the system and be ok longer term.

Or they’ll just get a grad transfer that wants to walk into a perfect situation. Sam?
