June 8, 20196 yr Anyone betting the Belmont today? It seems like a chalky kind of race with Tacitus and War of Will as the favorites. I’m thinking about taking a shot on some of the bigger prices (Tax, Master Fencer, Spinoff, or Sir Winston) since it is such a unique race. But I am having a hard time convincing myself that any of them have a chance.

But I am having a hard time convincing myself that any of them have a chance. Don't know if I am going to go bet it. I do have a problem with War of Will in this race. There have been many great horses that won the first two races of the Triple Crown that were not able to win the Belmont. They were racing in all three of the races and had to try this race against fresh horses. It seems the War of Will should have the same problem and he is not as good as those horses. Even though he did not win the Derby, he did race in it and will have to beat fresh horses.
June 8, 20196 yr I took a shot on Sir Winston to win and show. That should win $270ish. Takes some of the sting away from the Kentucky Derby.
September 12, 20196 yr Timeline: Apr 7th - wins Santa Anita Derby and fails drug test Apr 26th - CA racing board informs Baffert, who requests a second test by an independent lab May 5th - wins the Kentucky Derby (presumably passes all tests) May 8th - second lab confirms the failed test May 19th - wins Preakness (presumably passes all tests) June 9th - wins Belmont and Triple Crown (presumably passes all tests) Aug 23rd - CA board decides to drop the case for unknown reasons; other tracks say they were unaware of the entire incident. the most suspicious part is the delay in informing Baffert after the Apr 7th failed drug test. Of course this gives them the time to delay the second results until AFTER the Kentucky Derby. of course...
February 29, 20205 yr Fuck the Derby, gimme that $10M. Quote Maximum Security, the first ever to be disqualified from first place in the Kentucky Derby for causing interference, won the first running of the Saudi Cup, the world's most valuable race. Twice a winner in Grade 1 company since the Derby last May, Maximum Security and jockey Luis Saez finished ahead of Bob Baffert-trained Midnight Bisou and Saeed bin Suroor's Benbatl to win $10 million -- half of the race's $20 million purse. Victory did not look likely for most of the nine-furlong contest at the King Abdulaziz Racetrack in Riyadh, as Pegasus World Cup hero Mucho Gusto traveled strongly into the lead by a few lengths. Maximum Security gamely stuck to the task for Saez, but did not seem to be catching Mucho Gusto until he began to wander under Irad Ortiz Jr. close to home. The Jason Servis-trained Maximum Security has also subsequently been bought into by Coolmore, while his original owners Gary and Mary West remain involved.
February 29, 20205 yr It really is a shame that he is going to be remembered for the Derby DQ more than anything else. He’s a special horse for sure.

Regardless, if I had money on either outcome I might have a different opinion(unfortunately I did not have the 20 anywhere in top 2)...At the end of the day ---Mott has been a world class trainer for many years with a pretty clean record and is know as one of the most "ethical" trainers out there..Jason Servis on the other hand is not known that way and I will leave it at that... to quote myself when folks were pissed about Servis and Maximum Security losing the derby----Guess who just got indicted for running a huge widespread doping regime on all of his horses including Max...Servis is as dirty as they come..feel bad for the horse...between the rampant dirty "super" trainers and the betting syndicates--horse racing has become almost unplayable..
March 9, 20205 yr The article... Quote More than two dozen people, including the trainer of champion Maximum Security, have been charged in what authorities described Monday as a widespread international scheme to drug horses to make them race faster. Trainer Jason Servis, whose stable includes the 3-year-old champion, was charged with administering performance-enhancing drugs to that horse and others. Maximum Security crossed the finish line first at the 2019 Kentucky Derby before being disqualified for interference and has since won four of his five high-profile races. The charges against trainers, veterinarians and others were detailed in four indictments unveiled Monday in Manhattan federal court. Charges brought against the 27 people include drug adulteration and misbranding conspiracy. U.S. Attorney Geoffrey S. Berman scheduled a news conference in New York City to discuss the charges, which authorities said affected races in New York, New Jersey, Florida, Ohio, Kentucky and the United Arab Emirates. Authorities said participants in the fraud misled government agencies, including federal and state regulators, U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents, various state horse racing regulators and the betting public. In the indictment, Servis is charged with giving Maximum Security a performance-enhancing drug called SGF-1000, recommending it to another trainer and conspiring with a veterinarian to make it look like a false positive for another substance. The other trainer, Jorge Navarro, is also among those charged. Maximum Security on Feb. 29 won the world's richest race, the $10 million Saudi Cup. Servis is alleged to have given performance-enhancing drugs to "virtually all the racehorses under his control." He entered horses in races approximately 1,082 times from 2018 through February 2020, according to authorities. "The charges in this indictment result from a widespread, corrupt scheme by racehorse trainers, veterinarians, PED (performance-enhancing drug) distributors and others to manufacture, distribute and receive adulterated and misbranded PEDs and to secretly administer those PEDs to racehorses under scheme participants' control," an indictment reads. Prosecutors noted in indictments that professional horse racing is a $100 billion industry followed by millions of fans worldwide, leading racehorses to sell at auction for well over $1 million. "A sad day for racing but a long time coming," trainer Graham Motion tweeted. "A good day for those who try to play by the rules, we will all be better for it." According to the indictments, marketers and distributors of drugs known as "blood builders" to stimulate a horse's endurance have infiltrated the horse racing industry for at least the past decade. Authorities say the drugs can cause horses to overexert themselves, leading to heart issues or death. According to the indictments, other drugs used to deaden a horse's sensitivity to pain to improve the horse's performance could lead to leg fractures.
March 13, 20205 yr Does anyone else believe that they are going to continue with the road to the Kentucky Derby? Tomorrow has the Rebel Stakes without fans, but I can't imagine that they are going to keep going on the derby trail much longer.
March 14, 20205 yr Holy fuck Nadal was just impressive as hell in the Rebel. He’s going to be your favorite around 5/2 in the derby if it doesn’t get cancelled.
April 12, 20205 yr Damn. Quote It was a good Saturday for one lucky horse racing bettor, who turned a 50-cent Pick 5 into over half a million dollars. One bettor won the Early Pick 5 -- correctly picking the winner of the first five races -- of Saturday's 13-race program at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida, and took home $524,966.50. According to Ed DeRosa, the payout was the fifth-highest for a Pick 5 in U.S. horse racing history and the third-highest for a non-jackpot. The winning horses for the first five races were No. 8 Freddy Soto, No. 4 Union Lane, No. 1 He's a Babe, No. 3 Enzoexpress and No. 6 Lashara. It was a big day for long shots, as Freddy Soto, winner of the first race at 73-1 odds, had beaten a total of five horses in his previous three races prior to Saturday's win, while No. 4 Union Lane had finished in front of 11 total horses in her previous seven races. With 100% of commercial casinos closed in the United States, according to the American Gaming Association, and most professional sports on hold, horse racing is one of the few remaining legal wagering options for U.S. sports bettors.
May 17, 20205 yr Quote Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan disclosed the new date for the Preakness on NBC, which also had a hand in the decision because it televises the race. "Under normal circumstances, I would be standing at Pimlico ... presenting the Woodlawn Trophy to the winner of the 145th Preakness Stakes," Hogan said. "But as we all know these are not ordinary circumstances. However, I am proud to make this announcement on behalf of the state, the Maryland Jockey Club and Maryland's historic racing industry that Preakness 145 will be held at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland, on Oct. 3." https://www.espn.com/horse-racing/story/_/id/29183944/preakness-rescheduled-oct-3-one-month-kentucky-derby
May 18, 20205 yr It’s going to be crazy that the Belmont will most likely be the first race of the triple crown and only ran at 1 mile and an 8th. The worst part of this is that it really appears to be a great year for 3 year olds with Tiz The Law, the Baffert Trio, and potentially Maxfield (we will see if he can carry his 2 year old form).
May 19, 20205 yr It’s going to be interesting to see how Baffert handles this. The Santa Anita Derby is scheduled for June 6th. I would think Authentic would definitely run there and Charlatan would most likely as well. Nadal is going to the Belmont unless something unforeseen happens. Tiz The Law is also a Belmont no brainer since he is based in New York. So will Baffert send his Santa Anita Derby horses across country on 2 weeks rest?
September 5, 20205 yr Good ol’ September 5 Kentucky Derby. Post will be around 6 Central. Odds from earlier tonight...
September 5, 20205 yr Furk it, first glance 1st - 16/17 2nd - 16/17 3rd - 2/7/10/15/18 4th - 2/7/10/15/18
September 5, 20205 yr Son of a bitch, I did a manual record last night but fucked up from 4:30-5:30 instead of 5:30-6:30. Now I have to find a replay already knowing the winner.

September 6, 20205 yr Baffert is a horse whisperer He knows how to win the Derby and the Preakness, that’s for sure.
October 3, 20205 yr Well, guess the Preakness was today. Didn’t see it, just saw the scroll across the bottom of the screen, Swiss Skydiver won.
May 1, 20214 yr Author i like essential quality, but don't really want any part of him at 2-1. i'm going with rock your world on top of known agenda and essential quality. if i was playing the superfecta, i would go: 15 1/14 1/14/17/8/9 1/14/17/8/9
May 1, 20214 yr 7/9l14 tri box. Don’t love EQ to win at his price but think he’s in the money somewhere. 15 could be all or nothing and have bet accordingly
May 1, 20214 yr Known Agenda just got absolutely boned with the one hole. I'd like him to win with his last fraction times but that's gonna be hard to do from the one post
May 1, 20214 yr Watching this and I don't know shit about horse racing - feels good to see crowds, people to and fro, drinks everywhere. And all that. Normalcy is highly underrated.
