August 20, 20205 yr Yup, this is ragweed. I don't even need to look at any charts. It's a distinct shitty feeling.
August 20, 20205 yr ozone has been high as well. Nose & throat have been burning the last couple of days
August 20, 20205 yr Well that is reassuring (I guess), I noticed I had a itchy throat that felt like allergies but had not checked.

August 25, 20205 yr Something started up this weekend and has been brutal. Can't wait till Laura floods it away.
September 5, 20205 yr If you think you’re dying today, there’s good reason. Yesterday was apparently the second highest count total in history. Edited September 5, 20205 yr by Chet Steadman
September 5, 20205 yr Author for what, mold? I think mold was around 18,000 in San Antonio yesterday. High temps + lots of moisture = don't sit still too long or mold will start to grow on you. Edited September 5, 20205 yr by miguelito

September 5, 20205 yr Author Damn. Maybe that's why my eyes are messed up; there is mold growing in them.
September 17, 20205 yr Fall elm and pigweed are worse for me than ragweed. I’m better off indoors for a while.
September 20, 20205 yr Dying today with the Elm and Ragweed. Is it just me or was it hazy/Smokey out also (Austin area)?
October 31, 20205 yr Anyone else buggin out right now or is it just me? My eyes have been watering all day and nose is a faucet
October 31, 20205 yr 2 minutes ago, BayouBill said: Anyone else buggin out right now or is it just me? My eyes have been watering all day and nose is a faucet Started last night about 10. Had to take two Benadryl’s before it finally calmed down. My nose would not stop running for a few hours.
November 1, 20205 yr Author Same. Mold is moderate, but that's all that's being reported. My nose says different.

November 1, 20205 yr Whatever it was, it's gone, I've been fine all day, and there's no way the Benadryl has lasted that long. I've been taking Zyrtec daily as well before now.

December 3, 20205 yr Yup. Woke up here in SW Austin yesterday morning feeling like something was fucky with my sinuses and could immediately sense that it felt different than the typical early morning crud associate with allergies. Went to the KVUE site and saw that cedar was listed in the low count. Here's to looking at two months of itchy eyes/nose, constant low grade (if lucky) headache, crusty boogers blocking the snot from flowing out, coughing/hacking up phlegm, and just an all around fatigued/achy body. Cheers!
December 23, 20205 yr I could feel it coming on yesterday. Woke up with a sore throat and sneezing/stuffiness today and sure enough, cedar's high. Here we go.
December 23, 20205 yr Yesterday was really the first day most of us could feel it. Hopefully with the dry fall the pollen will be less. Well it probably will, but who am I kidding? 3 grains of that crap is lethal, never mind 3,000.
December 24, 20205 yr Author 7480. And now the eternal debate about allergy medicine and alcohol. That combination is bad for one's liver, I hear. Well, if I'm going to be miserable, I might as well be drunk.
December 24, 20205 yr Ok. As much as I hate having severe allergies, it’s good to see this thread rehashed instead of my symptoms perhaps being caused by, well, you know.
December 27, 20204 yr Holy shit I have been suffering the last two days. Inside I keep it in check with xyzal, nasal rinse, aller flo, and ipatroprium bromide. Plus zatidor eye drops. I’m oding on a allergy meds. Fuck cedar.
December 28, 20204 yr Author I've been wearing my covid mask all the time outdoors. I spent a few hours out in the garden, kept the mask on. It might have helped, but I was still pretty snotty later.
December 28, 20204 yr Ha I was hoping this thread was bumped. Got bitch slapped on Friday with the cedars. Better now. The wife was giving me the Rona Stare.
December 29, 20204 yr Serious question: Why not cut them all down and burn them. Maybe not out in the country, but why would any town have a cedar inside city limits?
December 29, 20204 yr “Some local guy on the Internet” says this stuff sold at HEB helps a lot with his allergies. Anybody here ever try it?
December 29, 20204 yr Is the price <$1000? If so, then it probably doesn't work. I assume that would be the established price point for a magic bullet to combat cedar fever in Austin.
December 29, 20204 yr Author I know a guy who swears by that stuff. I tried it, but didn't notice any difference. Maybe I didn't use it long enough, or maybe I wasn't supposed to use it as a suppository. I don't know. I'm still curious about eating the berries directly, or making a tea with them or something like that.

Maybe not out in the country, but why would any town have a cedar inside city limits? The golden cheek warbler has a very powerful lobby. I think some municipalities still list cedars as a protected species. (Personally, I'm making notes of the trees on my property, identifying the males for future chopping)
