July 26, 20187 yr This Oakland team is good. Two nights in a row now we should have won. This team can score runs. Mazara should be back any day. Daniels gave us a mediocre as hell staff and bullpen this year. Our go-to middle inning guy throws 70mph pitches. The competition has Claudio figured out. Won't be seeing Bush, Barnette or Fister any time soon. We may see Rua on the mound again. At least Gallo and Odor are coming around. Too soon to tell about Calhoun. July 26, 20187 yr What really sucks is that this year there are three teams under .400 (Rangers are currently .408, so probably 4 by the end of the year) So they won't even get a top three pick. The last time that happened was 2013.... We can't even suck very well
July 26, 20187 yr THIS JUST IN — Cole Hamels could be on his way to the Chicago Cubs in mere hours per @JoelSherman1 Rangers looking to get out of ANY money; get some prospects ... Cubs would take on about $4M of $14.2M owed #TexasRangers (105.3 The Fan)
July 26, 20187 yr Good riddance. I'm going to thoroughly enjoy watching yet another Ex-Ranger play in the WS.....
July 27, 20187 yr Mlbtraderumors says Cubs minor league pitcher Rollie Lacy was scratched from his start tonight. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=lacy--000rol&utm_campaign=Linker&utm_source=direct&utm_medium=linker-
July 27, 20187 yr It’s done. One piece moved. Now time for JD to find a taker for Choo and our relievers and it’ll be a successful trade deadline
July 27, 20187 yr Choo should have bunted. It would have been Rua scoring on that wild pitch. Edited July 27, 20187 yr by Irish Wrist Watch
July 27, 20187 yr Looks like Rollie Lacy is the main piece of the Hamels return. If we traded for nothing but pitching prospects, I’d be cool with that.

Looks like they're loading up on any pitching they can. between the draft, trades and signings, they'll end up with 10-12 pitchers. If we get one good starter, a spot starter and a couple of decent relievers, I'll be pretty happy. Also, they can be used for trade fodder the next couple of years.
July 27, 20187 yr Eddie Butler also part of the return. He’s interesting at least - he was well thought of as a prospect in the Rockies system (1st round draft pick) but was terrible in Coors and hurt often (hasn’t thrown more than 79 innings in a season at the MLB level). He had a stellar 30 K/28 BB ratio with the Cubs last year, so not ideal. Guessing we’ll give him a chance to start and see if he’s a late bloomer, but probably a swingman/reliever. July 27, 20187 yr Butler was originally drafted by the Rangers in the 35th round 2009, but chose instead to play at Radford University, before being drafted again in 2012. Intradesting...

You have never won a title. Calling a title-winning franchise "baseball aggy" is a bit rich. EDIT: I thought this was the MLB thread - trolling in a team thread is pretty harsh, my bad. Aggy is not about wins or losses but about culture. And nobody embodies the aggy culture like Houston fans, which should be no surprise given the population of aggy living there.

July 28, 20187 yr Lmao. This Astros loser has to come in the Rangers thread when they are getting their ass kicked. Fuck off and go back to your lame ass thread, dork.
July 28, 20187 yr Imagine thinking you’re a WS contender and then you get cucked by our sorry team by 10 runs. Fun to watch tonight though. We’ve now shut them down with Bartolo and Gallardo.
July 28, 20187 yr So you win a WS last year and you wear a shirt about the Rangers, who are a thousand games out of 1st, to your own ballpark? That's the definition of Aggy right there. Along the lines of the horns down sign.

My theory is that since Houston has so much (many?) aggy everywhere that their general sense of inferiority and aggyness has infected the whole city mindset through the newspaper and talk radio that they dominate

My friend I went with is a big Texans fan and a UT grad, but that image is seared into my brain and will always define Texan fan for me.

Astros fan has carryover jealous hatred of the cowboys that manifests in everything.
July 28, 20187 yr Phillies and Indians kicking the tires on Gallo, does JD ship him if there's a good enough offer on the table? Quote Indians, Phillies Showing Interest In Joey Gallo By Kyle Downing | July 28, 2018 at 9:16am CDT Multiple teams have inquired about Rangers outfielder Joey Gallo, reports Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News, with the Indians and Phillies being among the “most aggressive” in doing so. July 28, 20187 yr Can’t we have 1 thread were we talk about the Texas Rangers? Pretty sure that the Cowboys, Texans, Astros, aggy, and Houston Is a Shithole, all have their own threads. Dammit.
July 28, 20187 yr https://www.star-telegram.com/sports/mlb/texas-rangers/article215680455.html Probably not moving Beltre. Would love to hang on to that guy for all the reasons JD mentions.
July 29, 20187 yr Can't believe he did that considering the way he started off. Not sure I've even seen an ITPHR that didn't involve an outfielder misplaying a ball to some extent. That was pretty rare.
