December 17, 20196 yr Mine is biting the dust. Had it for about 10 years. Anyhow, I go to central market in dallas and load up on fish and chicken. Like $450 each time and come home and vacuum it. But my current sealer fails recently sucking all the air out and the bag is essentially a ziploc bag. So. Need a new one. Any recs?
December 17, 20196 yr I bought this thing to do some holiday food, not sure if the duty cycle is what you need based on how much you do at a time (you'll want to let it cool down every couple seals), but it was cheap and works really well. Was on sale for less than $50 at the time. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07B4W5PMB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Another option if you tend to work yours pretty hard, is go buy whatever Foodsaver at Costco, and if you kill it in the first year or 2, just return it to Costco.
December 17, 20196 yr I’ve got a big food saver. Works pretty well. Maybe you should look at some LEM or Cabelas stuff for the volume you are taking about.
December 17, 20196 yr I have used the hell out of a FoodSaver from Costco for the last two years with no issues.
December 17, 20196 yr If you want a good one that will last, get a Weston. They are made to handle continuous use. Sealing a bunch of bags in a row is what gets the smaller FoodSaver models. Edited December 17, 20196 yr by kevwun
December 17, 20196 yr The big Cabelas branded sealers used to be made by Weston, not sure if they still are.
December 18, 20196 yr I have the big foodsaver with the marinade hose attachment, the mason jar sealer, and 3 hdmi ports. I’ve been happy with it for a couple of years now. Whatever you get, get the big pleated bags to make life easy with a brisket.

December 19, 20196 yr Its been a long while now, that costco switched their foodsaver model from vertical to horizontal. The difference being the sealing edge was at the lip of the vertical model, and moved into somewhere middle of the unit. That means a lot of wasted bag space both direction of the seal, in the bag and to the cutting edge. They might've switched it back

December 19, 20196 yr I got this bad boy last month. It works great, as it should considering the price. It also takes up a shitload of space. Weston Pro-2300 Commercial Grade Stainless Steel Vacuum Sealer (65-0201), Double Piston Pump https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001GP81R2/

December 19, 20196 yr Yeah I am regretting not picking the food saver at COSTCO when it was on sale a couple weeks ago.
May 5, 20205 yr Looking at picking up a chamber sealer and I was all set to buy the VacMaster 215 until I checked Costco's site and they have the MaxVac Pro for $300 less than the VacMaster. Both have similar specs, so I would expect performance to be similar. Anyone have experience with the MaxVac Pro? I can't find much online, which is not particularly reassuring. But Costco's great return policy would cover me if it takes a shit, or if it is shit. https://www.costco.com/maxvac-pro-chamber-vacuum-sealer.product.100536866.html Edited May 5, 20205 yr by Chewbacca

May 7, 20205 yr Has anyone used the small handheld ones? I'd like to get one for when I sous vide and don't need a big one as I don't have freezer space to store a bunch of vacuum sealed packages.
