November 14, 20196 yr Doc's Oyster Bar in Niceville, is awesome. Pricey but great oysters. Get the House Special. They offer oysters cooked up 12 different ways/flavors.
July 27, 20214 yr Going to Seaside next weekend for the first time in a year. Anyone got any good restaurant or bar recs?

Its a fun place and nice view Sooooo half credit.

July 28, 20214 yr Arriving in Destin this Sunday. Only reservation I have so far is at Bijoux. Any recs?

Agreed on Great Southern, really all of the places in Seaside are decent including the food trucks. That place will be an epic clusterfuck of teenagers next week with school getting ready to start back up.

One of my favorites is Fish out of Water just down the road in Watercolor. They have great outdoor seating to catch the sunset while you have dinner. Bud & Alley's opened up their new upstairs outdoor seating and is a good place for drinks. Another good dinner spot is George's in Alys. No views of the beach but it is good people watching. Across HWY 98 near Rosemary is shopping district called 30Avenue. Goatfeathers is amazing for lunch.
July 28, 20214 yr Pescado at Rosemary Beach is good too. Adults Only for dinner. https://rooftop30a.com

We usually put our name in early and then go walk around until our table is ready. Fish out of Water is great for this. You can walk down the beach from Watercolor to Seaside and they will text your phone when the table is ready.
July 29, 20214 yr We ate at Paradis in Rosemary Beach tonight. Excellent. And they are reservations only so you can plan things a bit better.
July 29, 20214 yr Went to Santa Rosa Beach/Seaside over Spring Break in March. It was glorious, will never go in dead of summer again.
August 2, 20214 yr Been to Destin a lot. We have place we like to stay on Miramar Beach. We have been enough to know we don't give a crap about doing anything else but sitting on the beach. Last couple of trips are starting to take the luster off going though. People can't seem to grasp concepts of not intruding on other peoples spaces. Did you pay for those beach chairs and umbrellas in front of my condo? No, you did not. Do I want to listen to your shitty top 40 bubble gum music piped out through your shitty Kraco-esque speakers? No, I do not. Anyway, spent last week on Sanibel Island. Flew into Tampa and rented a car, (ACE upgraded me to a Hemi-Durango at no cost). There was a tad of what I mentioned earlier (loud music) but it was such a laid back experience, I definitely want to go back. The main drag is a two lane road. Lots of mom and pop places. Only chains I saw were Chevron, 7-11, and DQ. There are probably more but still no overt commercialism. Drove around to Captiva, same vibe up there as well. We stayed in a complex with an ocean front view condo. The grounds were amazing. Lots of vegetation... reminded me of Hawaii (or probably more appropriately, Key West).

Shhhh, don’t be sending people to my spot. We’ve had a house on the west end of Sanibel for several years. Everything from Anna Maria south is so much better than the Destin area in my opinion. That is after spending a couple of weeks a year on 30A for 20 years and also looking to buy there when we ended up buying on Sanibel. We spent a couple of weeks a year in both places and it ended up not being a hard choice to buy on Sanibel. However, it’s been a lot busier this summer than prior summers. Luckily, we’re in a small neighborhood bordered by nature reserves on both sides so at least our beach is always empty. The original Goatfeathers location closer to Blue Mountain Beach was always easier to get in and out of than the other. Edited August 2, 20214 yr by Brew

We stayed off E Gulf Drive about a mile west of the lighthouse. There were several condo complexes along that stretch and so it was not too crowded in the water. You could see a good bit of people on the public beaches though.
August 4, 20214 yr Went to Santa Rosa Beach/Seaside over Spring Break in March. It was glorious, will never go in dead of summer again. Spring Break weather on 30A is a crapshoot. I’ve frozen my ass off before and the water can be pretty cold.
August 4, 20214 yr Ate at Bijoux last night. Very good meal. Shrimp and Grits. Lamb chops. Apps we outstanding. No pics though.
August 4, 20214 yr Yesterday had lunch at Tailfins. It’s at the Harborwalk and is touristy. Food was decent, not great.
August 5, 20214 yr Everything is crazy packed and has long ass waits. Staying at Miramar and I have been fine with hitting up Publix and grilling to avoid the crowds.
August 5, 20214 yr Staying in the condo today and taking in some beach time. I’ll grill the reds and trout we caught yesterday afternoon.
August 9, 20214 yr If you are down in Santa Rosa/Seaside, Old Florida Fish house was awesome. I told the owner who I didn't even realize was our friend's next store neighbor that it was the best Redfish I had since Galatoire's in New Orleans. He told me that was because his chef worked at Galatoire's before covid. I probably had the same guy making my fish lmao.
August 9, 20214 yr Had a week vacation in Orange Beach last month and had a blast. I think my favorite place to eat was The Gulf. Great food, open outdoor seating right on the water, and sand entertainment for the kids. Miss this place already.
August 10, 20214 yr I need some recommendations on where to stay. I am trying to find not too crowded but on the beach and within walking distance to bars and restaurants.
August 18, 20214 yr We had a fantastic time a few summers ago at Sandestin but it was all basically luck. We stayed at Westwinds, which was the very last tower on their strip. It was great because we were a good 3/4 mile or so down the beach from the "center" of the craziness, but had what amounted to a somewhat private beach. We also had a golf cart so that we could go back and forth to the baytown wharf area and/or places just outside of the resort without ever really leaving the resort. I left once to go to Publix on the first day and we didn't get in the car again until we left town a week later. I would go back in a heartbeat but only in that building.
April 28, 20223 yr You doing a VRBO or going to Perdido Beach Resort? PBR used to do a shuttle to and from the P'cola airport.

I fly in and out of PNS all the time. Instead of getting on I-10 and heading west to Baldwin County Beaches exit, you can take back streets through Pensacola and come out past the Navy Base and it drops you right on the Beach road. 2 lanes (but it moves no problem, as there is very little traffic that way) until you get to the Flora Bama and then it opens up to 4 lanes with a center turn lane. Not a bad drive, but he scenery getting out Pcola takes you through the hood, keep your wits about you if you stop. Edited April 29, 20223 yr by jdhorn92

Just google "Pensacola Airport car service" and schedule a car and driver. It'll probably be cheaper and faster than Uber and there's almost no risk of them not showing up. Whenever I travel with my wife and kids, I always do a car service since finding an Uber big enough for 4 passengers and 4 bags can sometimes be a challenge.
June 17, 20232 yr Florabama might be the best bar in the world. Just spent a great day drinking day there after a week of 13U baseball.
July 27, 20232 yr Going to Gulf Shores next week. Never been to the area. Any things to do with kids other than hang out at the beach/pool? Also looking for good restaurant recs. There's some in this thread but they're 5 years old.

May 25May 25 Any dos or don'ts for Pensacola restaurants? Staying are the holiday Inn in 2 weeks right in the middle of everything.
May 27May 27 Gotta, say, I lol every time I see an old thread or post from Errestaurants. He was a pretty present poster until he admitted he was so jacked up on steroids and performance enhancing drugs that he didn't care if he was fucking an animal, vegetable, or mineral. And then he sort of looked around, did the internet equivalent of "Amirite guys?" and then promptly logged out, and presumably, changed his username in lightning speed. It was a very NowThis moment, although now I wonder if they were the same guy.
