Didn't want to start another thread about Southern Rock but figured anyone that enjoyed Country would enjoy a little Gregg and Dickey in Austin

This thread is awesome, thank you for starting it. Waylon has always been one of my personal favorites.

Charley Pride was always a staple in the old man's LP collection.

And I remember the day he bought this album.  Classic group of songs.  It had been out of print for a few years, then around 71 they rereleased it.

Turn out the Lights...

Regarding Charlie Pride...

My grandfather was president of RCA records in the 60s . They chose not to put a picture of Charlie on his early albums.

He was there when Charlie first appeared on the Opry. Charlie walked out to applause then it just died.

He said something like “if you think you’re surprised I am too”

Csb.

Oh. And my grandfather passed on the Beatles.

Somehow missed this thread but got caught up.  Damn if I don't love me some old country.

"I lit a lonely woman's cigarette,
We both start talking' 'bout what we want to forget."

-- Merle Haggard "Misery and Gin"

God damn those older guys could turn a phrase.
