sorry rushfags, fewer than 59 drums got the job done.

Best drummer I have seen live is Alex Gonzalez.

Ringo. Lol. Even super Beatles fans think he is their weak link.

Always thought Ringo was a by design photobomb...yet much better than adequate timekeeper.

That's like saying William Perry was the weak link on the 1985 Chicago Bears defensive line.

Question for the drummers.  Is Mickey Shine actually counting off the snare in the verses or just hitting it whenever he feels like it.  I've tried for years to count it off and can never get close.

Didn't Lennon say that Ringo wasn't even the best drummer in the Beatles? But then, John was a dick.

Beato has actually called out some of the understated brilliance of Ringo's drumming, basically that Ringo always played within the song and enhanced it, never sacrificed the whole to try and be showy. Essentially the perfect session player.

It's true that Ringo didn't have the jawdropping chops of a Peart or Colaiuta or name your guy.

He also played some of the most glorious and song-appropriate parts in rock history, and few (none?) have ever been able to truly emulate what he did.  He was one of a kind and The Beatles were lucky to have him.

Say what  you want about Ringo's technical chops, he had his own sound and it's instantly recognizable.

Can’t have a drum thread without SC

At a net worth of $350M, I'd say Ringo might be the lucky party in that relationship

I don't know about "best", but just watching Moon do his thing here always amazed me.  One part drumming, one part epileptic seizure, one part tossing a very large salad.

Somehow it just works...

Best drummer I've ever seen is Jeff Sipe.

This popped up on my YouTube and I was gonna put it on what are you listening but I think I’m gonna put it here. The brushwork is outstanding

Not a drummer (or even a musician) but I've always loved Moon's work on this little nothing of a song from The Who:

Not sure about the whole song but the drum intro to voodoo child by Jimi Hendrix’s crew is pretty salty.

A hidden treasure of a song.

Jimmy Chamberlin. Jazz drummer but played for Smashing Pumpkins. Geek USA is my all-time favorite.

I think it’s technically amazing, but I prefer more groove heavy metal.  I think with brutal death metal...well...just because you can doesn’t mean you should.

Yeah, me too.  Wait . . . who?

I had never heard of this guy.  Checked out some youtube clips of him, and he's amazing.

This guy's son was a groomsman at my wedding. He always told me his dad was a great jazz drummer but I'd never seen footage of him before.

That guy reminds me a little of Fred LeBlanc of Cowboy Mouth, except this guy is 10x crazier with his arms.

Anyone on here listen to avenge sevenfold? The rev was a fucking bad ass drummer

Gavin has a ton of highlights to choose from but Anesthetize is like a “best of”

The blast beat at 5:10 kills me and no doubt has destroyed many speakers

Matt Garzska from Animals as Leaders

Yussef Dayes from Yussef Kamaal

I've been listening to a lot of Joy Division lately and Stephen Morris's drumming really is a stand out.

His speed on this song is unbelievable.

That video is awesome. Everyone is jamming like caffeinated ferrets. Meanwhile, Entwistle is just hanging out in the corner in a skeleton suit laying down fat bass grooves.

I know this is the drumming thread, but Entwistle is the standard by which all other bassists are measured in my book.

And, yes, he always looked like he was thinking, "If one of you blokes so much as touches me or my bass it's GO TIME!!!"

Thunda fingahs.  The OX!

Posted this before on some other thread.  When you upstage Townshend and Gilmour you don't suck.  Simon Phillips does just that imo...
