May 2May 2 Reddick doesn’t play a center against Rudy then complains the guys aren’t in shape after the bench scored a whopping 4 points and zero defense

Having said that, he's STILL my fave player and I hate Nico for trading him...I want him back. 6 hours ago, Im_smarter_then_you said: Lakers fan here. Any chance Lukas width was actually helpful? His size is a plus honestly...he'll NEVER be the quicker guy he was as a rookie.

Maybe he needed the thickness for balance and distancing. it is more about him being able to go 100% for longer in a game which, in theory, will help him defensively. he certainly modified his effort when he needed to, to stay in a game. maybe you get rid of 30 bad pounds and add back 10 good pounds. I think it will help his outside shooting also.

Luka is too a fierce a competitor for him to stay fat. Nico's dumbass just accelerated the process. People forget that Jokic was fat at one time, and then suddenly he wasn't.

Maybe he needed the thickness for balance and distancing. go back and watch videos of his rookie year. He didnt need to be fat to "balance" himself out. If anything being fat forced him refine his midrange game. now he's going to have that refined midrange and be back to his exceptional deceleration and super herky jerky style he played with in his first 2 years.

July 30Jul 30 I think weight loss is probably one of the conditions the Lakers have before extending him also.

Did you not become a more serious person in your mid-late twenties and after you got married and had a kid than you were in your early twenties without a kid? We’ve seen some version of this 1000 times. The difference is that none of those guys were great *before* they got serious. Edited July 30Jul 30 by Bozo_Casanova

July 30Jul 30 Haven't we heard this same story the previous two offseasons? Come January, we'll see if it was Luka or Photoshop doing the heavy lifting.

August 2Aug 2 Hell of a job by his representation. There’s no way the lakers wanted to only give him 3 years. You know, unless they have concerns about his defense and conditioning. lol.
August 2Aug 2 So how much money did he lose due to the trade? Wasn't he eligible for something like 5 years and 320 million with Dallas?

Sounds like little to nothing, relatively. 55 per for 3 vs 65 per for 5. Those 2 open years should make up some or all of the difference, assuming he gets more than 65 aav on his next contract.

He's on Ozempic or Wegovy or something similar. This is the reverse steriods from all the guys in the 90's that suddenly showed up buff and then played dumb. I just been working out man. Yeah right, and Luka Doncic is getting slim from intermittent fasting. GTFouttahere.

I mean a guy in his 20s that plays a sport where you have to sprint, jump and move laterally for extended periods of time could probably just cut back to 4k cals a day and lose a shitload of weight.

It’s not some miracle of modern science.
August 6Aug 6 Something that makes people in America stop eating so much, lose weight rapidly, and with pretty much no side effects, is definitely a miracle of modern science.

Back in the ‘70s, I read a book in the school library by Dave DeBusschere, where he said he was getting heavy mid season and losing his hops (not his phrasing). He started a pre-practice routine of jumping up to touch the rim 20 times in a row, and cut beer consumption in half, and got back in shape in no time.

August 16Aug 16 Why the heck is he playing some dumb tournament anyway? I am surprised Lakers allow that. Is this some kind of olympics affiliated deal? just seems crazy to risk injury for this tourney.

Dirk played German olympics/Euro basketball whenever it counted. Weby will do the same for France for his entire career. Doncic has played year round for Real Madrid/Mavs/Slovenia since he was 16 years old.

Also you think American players don't play some form of basketball in the offseason to train?
