Pro-Crime judges?  Is that some fucked up sequel to "Minority Report" by Philip K. Dick that he penned in the throes of his very last peyote binge?

"You see, Pre-Crime arrests, judges, and sentences criminals before they would even commit the murder based on their pre-meditation.  What Trump's Pro-Crime judges do is Proactively commit the crimes themselves so there's no one left to preemptively arrest.  It's corporate efficiency, you take the criminal and the law enforcement agent right out of the loop."

His toll idea is ridiculous, but at least you could justify the math on a long enough timeline.  But the "doing something with remittances"?  What the fuck do you Trumpers even think that means?  They're far less than $45b, but let's say that for a round number.  And current projections for total wall completion based on cost per linear mile thusfar...it's gonna come in at $45b.  So either his idea is for everybody in the U.S. to just halt remittances to Mexico and instead kick them up to the federal government for 12 months for shits 'n giggles.  Or, somebody has convinced him to propose some sort of 2% surcharge.  Whereby 2% of the remittances go to pay for the wall, but it takes 50 fucking years for the remittances to pay off while we're paying juice on the treasuries we sold to fund the thing in current pay.  Problem of course, besides the debt service completely drowning out whatever short-to-mid term solution he comes up with...is that where in the foodchain do you assess the 2% surcharge?  At the time the person makes the money?  At the time they deposit it?  At the time their bank/wire service processes the remittance?  At the time the person in Mexico receives the funds?  At the time the person in Mexico cashes/deposits the money?  At the time the person in Mexico eventually pays some portion of that to their own government?  At the time their government collects it and then pays a portion of it back to us?  Because we know their accounting is so above-board down there.

I'll give you Trumpers credit, at least you've shifted away from "Mexico is gonna pay for it, straight up!" to at least entertaining mathematically possible solutions like commercial tolls, remittance surcharges, tourism addendums, etc.  Now, they never add up in under a half-century, but at least they involve finance.  Only took you dipshits four years though to realize that yeah...no way in the fucking world Mexico was just gonna stroke a check for it.  But admit it, that was his only plan for 3+ years, and you fucking fell for it.  How do some of you own businesses?

“Pro-crime judges” is really this simple: judges who will let Trump and his gang get away with crimes. That’s exactly what he’s appointing, and that’s why.

Did Trump just accidentally admit he won't have a job in 2021 and is thus available for NFL free agency?

Toll booths will definitely work to stop the migrant caravans because they will all need to go back home and get a shit load of dimes.

If you’re gonna post unfunny tweets that never happened, could you at least label them as fake? Thanks.

Everything you just hypothesized here was never an iota of a thought with these dipshits, including the president. One of his aides or cabinet members mentioned the idea of a Mexico toll and he ran with it. That’s as far as it ever got.

I don't get it tho because when you cross from Mexico to the US on foot or by car, you pay on the Mexican side as you're leaving the country.  The US charges you when you leave into Mexico.  Is he saying we are going to be charged again after paying in Mexico and crossing the bridge to the US side?

He's winging it.  There is no plan.  There never was a plan.  We are paying for the wall.  More specifically, the US military is paying for the wall, with money we gave them.

One reason I am optimistic about the young people of today having the ability to take our country in the right direction again is that tens of thousands of 18-35 year olds are already signing up on the armyfortrump website to be Poll Watchers.  But they're not doing it for the reason Donald thinks they are.  If they're half-smart, and I'd like to think that they are, they'll flood the zip codes and ballot locations of the places most likely to be inundated with real Trumpers.  by the time these olds and proud bois get around to it, the site will read, "Thanks, we have plenty of volunteers already...if you're willing to drive to XYZ on election day..."  And it'll just send them to some zip code that's heavily in the bag for Trump already.

It'll be like the pretend Minneapolis rally registrations on steroids.  It's gonna be awesome.

I'd sign up to do it, but I still get 2 mail pieces a week from his campaign and my mailman is giving me dirty looks.  I've been pleading with the RNC to take me off, even after I tell them on the phone that the call is being monitored by the FEC.  They just don't give a shit.  It has stopped for the last couple weeks after I told the last phone volunteer that Trump's Covid killed my uncle (partially true).  I think it finally resonated with her.  But I got the impression it takes a volunteer 30 minutes, 2 phone calls, and 6 mouse clicks to legit remove somebody from their mail database because it is so precious to them.  which is ironic given their stance on the USPS as of late.

I'll post this in the pinned thread as well.  I don't expect it in Austin, but you never know.

https://advancementproject.org/what-to-do-if-you-experience-intimidation-at-the-polls/

Quote

If you’re a voter wondering what you should do if you feel intimidated or targeted at the polls, you are not alone. Here are six things you should do if you experience or witness intimidation.

1. It’s ILLEGAL! First things first, it’s important to know that voter intimidation is a federal crime; you will go to jail. “Whoever intimidates, threatens, coerces, or attempts to intimidate, threaten, or coerce, any other person for the purpose of interfering with the right of such other person to vote or to vote as he may choose, or of causing such other person to vote for, or not to vote for, any candidate for the office of President, Vice President, Presidential elector, Member of the Senate, Member of the House of Representatives, Delegate from the District of Columbia, or Resident Commissioner, at any election held solely or in part for the purpose of electing such candidate, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both,” reads 18 U.S. Code Section 594.

2. Do not be intimidated if your vote is challenged

Voter challenger laws vary from state to state. In most states, challengers must provide election officials at the polls with a valid reason. Challenges cannot be made for discriminatory reasons such as race, ethnicity, language ability or gender. Unless the challenger presents affirmative proof that a voter is not qualified, election officials must consider a voter’s registration valid. Challengers may enter the voting space to explain a challenge, but must leave as soon as their challenge is heard. In the case that your vote is challenged, you have a right to hear from the precinct judge before the polls close. Check with your local Board of Elections to find the rules and procedures challengers must abide to in your state.

3. Alert the municipal Clerk or Election Officials at polling locations

On Election Day, administrators will be present on polling sites to oversee election operations. In the case that you experience or witness intimidations at the polls, notify your local election official at your polling place. Election officials (poll workers) are responsible for administering election procedures in each polling place. Generally speaking, their assigned duties include issuing ballots to registered voters, registering voters, monitoring the voting equipment, explaining how to mark the ballot or use the voting equipment or counting votes. The municipal clerk is an election administrator and, as such, should be available to poll workers on Election Day for advice, supplies, and additional support.

4. Call Election Protection at 866-OUR-VOTE

In addition to notifying local authorities, voters concerned that they are being targeted should immediately call the Election Protection Hotline at 1(866)-OUR-VOTE. Voter helplines are led by the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. For Spanish speakers, the number is (888)-Ve-Y-Vota protection efforts are led by trained professionals at the NALEO Educational Fund, The number for Asian language speakers is (888)-API-VOTE (led by APIAVote & Asian Americans Advancing Justice-AAJC).

5. Document the conduct

One of the most important steps you can take if you experience or witness voter intimidation is to report the incident to your local County Board of Elections and County District Attorney. In your report, be sure to list the date, time and location of the incident. Each County Commission is required to investigate alleged violations and report them to the District Attorney, who has the authority to prosecute violations. See something, say something and write it ALL down.

6. Don’t confront the intimidator

For witnesses of voter intimidation, it is important for your safety and safety of others to not confront the intimidator. There are several reasons for why this would do more harm than good. For starters, this confrontation could alienate the voter further by bringing more attention to the situation. It could also intimidate other voters nearby. The biggest reason for not confronting the intimidator is that it raises the chances of police getting involved. This could be more intimidating than the initial encounter. For voters with previous felony conviction, who may be voting for the first time, police presence can be incredibly daunting. The best way to support someone who is being discriminated against on Election Day is to participate in the steps previously mentioned.

I mean, I agree with your sentiment and outrage, I just think the likelihood of that happening or the possibility of winning the inevitable lawsuits are unlikely. But would I like to see Biden escort all those guys into his office in week 1 and talk about what he expects and wants to change out of Social Media, with a threat of fines stated? Yeah, for sure.

Yeah, that whole First Amendment is gonna kind of get in the way of any actual prosecutions or civil actions.

I'm not attorney, but obviously I don't think you go about it that way. These are private platforms. They can do what they want. Honestly, they're not even doing the things they already have to power to do in their terms of service. You tell them they're going to start actually policing fake news like it matters to them, and you tell them that their taxable status/percentage is going to be dependent on a score that a government agent gives them. Actually, scratch that idea. If you just re-implement a new version of the fairness act, you can write whatever you think is necessary and will be successful right into that law. Then if they're negligent, bam, fine. This accomplishes two things. First, you motivate them to actually police the garbage on their platform. But more importantly, many of the people at this company WANT to be doing these things. Now you've given them the cover to hold up their hands and do the right thing anyway. You don't take away anyone's free speech. You simply motivate them to do the right thing.
