March 4, 20205 yr First Brazilian beer, not bad I haven’t had one of those in a long time. When I am in Brazil I usually try to find Eisenbahn or Baden Baden. It used to be pretty hard to find either but getting a little easier. Not sure if they got bought out by anyone. I like Eisenbahn’s various weizen beers. Last visit I had some Cervejaria Colorado, a pilsen, and I wasn’t a big fan.
March 4, 20205 yr Staying in New Braunfels this weekend. Any breweries in town worth checking out?I have always enjoyed the 5 Stones beers (specifically their Shepherd series of IPAs) that I tend to pick up when in Austin.
March 6, 20205 yr ABWs new Sun Shovel year rounder is pretty great. Uses kveik yeast, tastes like an elevated Oberon. Haven't tasted the Amber Vision in cans yet.
March 7, 20205 yr Jester King Cofermentation Beer/Wine Hybrid with Gewurztraminer and Blanc Du Bois grapes is fanfuckingtastic. Better than the whole Spon series

March 10, 20205 yr $10 4-packs of core beer that they probably fill 80% of their tanks with for the entire brew week. Neat.

The highly regional ones, from areas I don't really visit, I'll likely never get to taste. I guess I'll have to drown those sorrows in Pilz and Gold.
March 11, 20205 yr Author Yeah, pilsners are best fresh. That's why I pass on any European pilsners I see in the states.

March 11, 20205 yr Probably in the 2019 thread but it’s 2020, breweries I should hit in SD? Got a corona ticket on the cheap so I’ll be there for ~1.5 days
March 12, 20205 yr Probably in the 2019 thread but it’s 2020, breweries I should hit in SD? Got a corona ticket on the cheap so I’ll be there for ~1.5 daysModern Times, Abnormal, and Aleworks are the only ones that come to mind. I’m sure there is better too.
March 12, 20205 yr Modern Times, Abnormal, and Aleworks are the only ones that come to mind. I’m sure there is better too. Was just there in January and, as you can imagine, there are TONS of great breweries all around. I try to only visit breweries whose beers I can’t get back home so, ignoring obvious ones like Ballast Point, etc, in addition to Modern Times as previously mentioned, I’d also recommend Pizza Port and Pure Project in the immediate San Diego area. There are also tons more if you go into the North County area and/or up NE towards Escondido. Bar-wise, i would also go by the Toronado before they close for good. I know Hamilton’s and O’Briens are also great bars.
March 12, 20205 yr Hops & Grain San Marcos is closing Saturday. Can’t imagine how much money was sunk into it. Hopefully, they were organized to keep it separate from the original location.
March 12, 20205 yr plenty of craft breweries will be closing this year if people stop going to bars and taprooms for a month.

March 12, 20205 yr i went to the internets looking for this info and didn’t see anything. is this insider friend info?Saw it on a Craft Beer Austin Instagram post. Someone mentioned in the comments that H&G was the next up for sale. Dunno if that guy is connected.
March 12, 20205 yr In happier news, I just saw that East 1st Grocery just got it two El Segundo beers. Hadn’t heard they were going to be distributing to Texas.

March 12, 20205 yr Hating pilsners is like hating vagina. I'm cool if you feel that way, but I sure as fuck don't get it.
