Happy '20's everybody. My resolution is to get through this backlog of beer I've hoarded from the past decade. Started tonight. Gonna be a good year.

When did Austin BeerWorks start distributing to Houston? I was looking for some beer at the specs near Off I-10/Bingle and I see like five of their beers. I’ve never seen them in Houston. Needless to say I had to buy a few sizers.

they don’t. spec’s often moves around product between their stores. it’s not rare to find ABW staples at the midtown spec’s (at least a few years ago). but that beer got to houston on a spec’s truck, not an ABW truck.

Are there any Texas breweries making non alcoholic beer? Google turns up several in other states but nothing in TX.

none that i’m aware of. it costs more to make NA beer than real beer.

Folks, let’s remember the rules. Pint glasses...please.

Hey there needs to be an exception for the lake.

Also it says “drink from the can” right there on the can.

I was referring to the Oktoberfest whining.

Unused to get annoyed by it too, but then I realized I don't even really like the October fest style.  So don't even care.

Any Houston breweries particularly struggling? I’ve been trying to spread the wealth as much as possible, but always end up at the same 3-4.

Patrick would know more than I.. but if I had to guess, id say Buffalo Bayou (expensive overhead), Exaclibur (new), and 6 Wards (just opened not too long ago).

but havent heard anything specifically about any one brewery yet

I enjoy them for a good 2-3 weeks per year and then I'm done. Gonna be tough to get in the mood if we have no college football this year.

haven’t heard anything specific, but i would think any brewery that doesn’t have a canning line would be struggling. i can’t imagine what our books would look like if we didn’t the capability to can each week.

Think I've figured out why the TABC is so fucked up.  Take a look at their executive director

Wait so now they’ve re-closed patios? I don’t know why I would expect any different, but what complete and total incompetence.

So there has to be money changing hands behind the scenes on this, right? It's blatantly targeting local craft breweries.

#1243

No need to support local when there is an ever expanding market place of fantastic alternatives!

Dark Alchemy oatmeal stout, La Playa "Mexican lager," Lumen helles and a fruity gose. All from Variant Brewing in Roswell, GA.0724201359a.thumb.jpg.2fd6ac8ff4d678d529e0acb74e0bb77a.jpg

Decent enough. Still properly carbonated but a little thin tasting in the bourbon department. Probably the first Rahr beer I’ve had in several years.
