We're on Entergy up here. They used to be less reliable (more and longer outages) than they've been the last several years. I noticed Entergy was out from North Conroe to South Huntsville along I-45 earlier - 4,000 homes out.
May 28, 20205 yr Author It finally came on just now. The weird thing was that the second round of storms was nothing really. There were a few pretty good lightning strikes, but no wind at all. Weird.

May 28, 20205 yr Author Still a chance for some severe weather today according to the SPC. ...TX near Rio Grande... Widely scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop today over the western and northern parts of the outlook area. Thunderstorms regionally will be forced by a combination of lift from surface heating, the southward-moving baroclinic zone, and orographic forcing over the Big Bend region and northern Coahuila. Additional convection is possible this evening farther east as the frontal zone impinges on richer inflow-layer moisture. Large hail and severe gusts will be the main concerns. Height rises are expected as the Ozarks cyclone/trough weaken and move away from the area. Nonetheless, associated northwesterly flow aloft and strong directional shear will persist, despite weak low-level winds. This will contribute to 30-40-kt effective-shear magnitudes, though the lack of more robust low-level flow will limit hodograph size. Steep midlevel lapse rates, along with some moisture return through an air mass affected by prior days' convective complexes, will combine to yield MLCAPE in the 2000-3000 J/kg range across much of this region. More-robust moisture return is probable this evening over south-central TX and the lower Rio Grande Valley, which will be available to any convection that can develop anew along the combined frontal zone, or evolve upscale from diurnally initiated convection from Coahuila. That contingency appears increasingly probable based on more-recent guidance and the observational trends in the lower Rio Grande Valley, so the outlook has been expanded on the east side.

May 28, 20205 yr Yeah, still "officially" a chance but i doubt it very much. The low's moving off, we've had the atmosphere stabilized a good bit from last night, and the bulk of the risk area is well NE of us. Jinxed it? I don't think so. We were lucky around here last night. The storms that rolled through Austin about 7 had calmed down a good bit. Then they fired up again down near Luling and caused some wind and hail damage.
May 28, 20205 yr I reconfigured the garage back to its normal useful self, so my truck no longer fits. Had barely gotten both cars in the last 4 days due to the hail chances. Think I may go give the truck a wash too. #Fucktheforcefield
May 28, 20205 yr The vehicle my employees use to get around was parked outside in NW Georgetown and both the front and back windshields are gone and it is likely a total loss. It's less than a year old and has maybe 1200 miles on it. Our building must be near where Monty is because the hail was about the same size.

You'd think it would be robust after all of the storms/hurricans they've had, but then again, it maybe pretty patchwork because of all of the storms/hurricanes they've had. Plus, a lot of their stuff is above-ground. That does not help at all.

May 28, 20205 yr Yep, these storms are actually in the forecast area (west of us and a lot of SW too). Looks like they'll swipe west of Austin, thankfully. Watching for buildup but so far mostly out west. That's a NASTY storm going west of Fredericksburg.
