The defending national champion Texas Longhorns 🏆 are pre-season ranked #2 in the nation, but we had a lot to replace this year as only 2 of our 6 starters from last years singles lineup returned (Sigsgaard and Ito). Chih Chi Huang is also back but he only played line 6 singles some of the time last season. We recruited an incredible freshman class featuring some of the best prospects in the US, but it may take some time for them to become reliable team tennis players.

We kick off the season playing @ #1 ranked Florida on Wednesday January 15th. Will be a good measuring stick to see where we are.

I know Yuya feels shafted being ranked #2 in the country despite winning Oracle and ITA All American. So he's hungry this season.

wow

Boom

We beat #17, #4, #71 and #31 for the win.

And #72 for good measure

Wow, big win. So only our top two (who happen to be two of the top players in the nation) are back from last years squad?

For singles, yes.

Well Huang is also back- he was in the singles lineup consistently for the first 2/3 of the season and was always in the doubles lineup

I think if you want to say consistent season singles players, it’s just Ito and Sisgaard. Of course he has experience with a 26-9 record last year but he wasn’t really part of the core singles lineup that won the title.

Hell of a way to start the season. In our first match since winning the national championship against Wake Forest, we go on the road to upset the #1 ranked team in the nation. With how young we are outside Ito and Sigsgaard, we'll go through some bumps in the road, but the first official match in the Burke era couldn't have gotten off to a better start.

We fall to 0-2 on the season in doubles. Last year we were bad in doubles and we still won a national championship so....thinking positive?

Ito’s older brother is playing Djokovic at the Australian Open right now. Going how you would expect so far.

No surprise but great honor for a young team and new coach

Tennis school!

Texas def. Indiana 4-0. We pulled out our first doubles point of the season in a tiebreaker and then the top part our lineup looked solid with Ito clinching the win.

Sweep. 2 double wins in a row!

Ohio State def. Texas 4-1. I penciled this in as a loss anyways because practically no one beats Ohio State at an indoor venue. Not to mention Bruce Berque spent his entire career at Michigan losing to Ohio State

Lost dubs but lead in 4 of 6 singles matches against UCLA

Texas wins it.

Texas took care of business in singles and won 4-2. The goal at the indoor championships is to win at least 2 matches

Weird how dominated we got in singles but won doubles. Usually other way around

Closed out the tournament with a 4-2 win over Stanford today. We won 2 out of 3 at the ITA indoors, which is a successful trip

You're welcome 😉

(I'm kidding, I wasn't a tennis player, but it's always great to beat Baylor)

4-0 over Tree

7 in a row put down by Day. One hit allowed so far in relief

NCST def Texas 4-3

We lost the doubles point and only won 3 singles matches

NCST is a hard Road Match immediately after playing Stanford on Friday Night..

Match vs. #14 Columbia is cancelled due to Ivy sports shutting down.

Still national champs for another year!

I'd understand if they want to go pro. But selfishly, run it back!
