April 19, 20214 yr Had to look back- So 2016 was when the Texas women finished in 5 way tie for second. Seeds were announced on April 24, 2016 (https://big12sports.com/news/2016/4/24/210910129.aspx) which was a Sunday So who knows..... Edited April 19, 20214 yr by Aleemay
April 19, 20214 yr Per release, the rankings gave us the 1 seed. They just haven’t been published to the public yet
April 19, 20214 yr Texas gets a first round bye, faces winner of 4 Tech / 5 OSU. Texas beat Tech 4-1 and OSU 4-3 in the regular season (4-1 in the non-conf matchup) I think I'd rather face TCU since we barely lost that one, 3-4? Versus winning 1 out of 3 versus Baylor (1-4, 0-4, 5-2) and then have to play them on their home court too. Edited April 19, 20214 yr by Js1
April 19, 20214 yr Texas on the short list to host https://ncaaorg.s3.amazonaws.com/committees/d1/compoversig/Apr2021D1AdCom_Apr14Report.pdf Honestly I think UT has overachieved this year so far. Winning the regular season conference with basically no super seniors (or regular seniors for that matter) in a stacked conference is a big achievement.
April 19, 20214 yr Author We have absolutely over performed this year. Our record in contests that ended 4-3 is near perfect ( damn you TCU ) and that’s indicative right there of how matches that could have gone either way went to the Horns.

Isn't the entire roster returning next year? This feels like the national title roster from a couple years ago. Talent and experience. Although, I'm not sure this roster has as much talent but I'm far from a tennis expert.

Would have to see a fully healthy Siem to better evaluate. Also the record at number 6 this year is not good. Too many 4-3 matches for my liking. Edited April 20, 20214 yr by Aleemay
April 20, 20214 yr Author If Yuya and Sigsgaard decided to stay for their final year of eligibility, we would be the favorites to win it all again. I have to give Spizzirri credit because he is starting to play like a line 1 type player now. That being said, just imagine if he were our #3 guy, with Woldeab, Harper, and Braswell rounding out the lineup. Oh well
April 26, 20214 yr Author Wasn’t our day today. At least we still have our share of the big 12 regular season title!

May 3, 20214 yr Author Draw gets released at 6:30pm today. If we get a top 4 seed, other teams are hoping they’ll be in our section. More than likely we lose in the elite 8 or sweet 16. I think we have the same chance of losing in round 2 as we do making the final 4. Who knows though, we are technically still the defending champs!
May 3, 20214 yr Author We got the #4 seed, but we'll probably face UCLA in round 2. That's a tough 2nd round. Baylor received the #2 overall seed and will face A&M corpus 1st round just like the Baylor women edit: the #1 overall seed, Florida, was a team we already beat this season. This is the most parity I've seen in mens tennis..... ever Edited May 3, 20214 yr by perfectchaos007
May 4, 20214 yr Author Big 12 teams in the tournament: (all of them made it) #2 Baylor, #4 Texas, #7 TCU, OU, OKST, TTech Texas teams in the tournament: #2 Baylor, #4 Texas, #7 TCU, #8 aggy, TTech, TAMU-CC
May 4, 20214 yr Elliot and Micah are selected for NCAA singles while Elliot and Siem are in the doubles draw
May 8, 20214 yr UCLA and Northwestern going on Should be noted that UCLA's top player got into a pretty serious car accident and has not been in the lineup since

May 9, 20214 yr Author Great attendance this weekend for the matches. My only complaint was the lack of concessions and closed off water fountains. I’m sure these are Covid related measures, but it was balmy out there and fan dehydration could have been a problem.

May 17, 20214 yr Author Lost doubles to USCe. That’s the first point we’ve dropped in the tournament. Hopefully we can find 4 singles wins
May 17, 20214 yr Author 3-3! It all comes down to McDonald who unfortunately was up 5-1 and had match points in the third set but is now tied 5-5
May 17, 20214 yr Yeah he called out on deuce but up chair over ruled At least he had the composure to hold serve at love. Get the break!
May 17, 20214 yr Texas wins! Seems like this is house money now for Texas with a very youngish team. Edited May 17, 20214 yr by texasstrong12
May 17, 20214 yr Author What a comeback! This team does not want to hand over their defending title easily!
May 17, 20214 yr Author We'll play the other USC next round. We beat them 4-3 earlier this season at the ITA tournament.
