Exactly.  If they want to throw 15 yard penalties left and right, go for it. But the ejection shouldn't be quite so fucking easy. Not just, "Oh, his helmet was slightly lowered."

Can't believe they called that and not the way more egregious one on Delpit.

They both are targeting, idk why the Delpit one wasn't reviewed.

They have to change that rule. You can’t eject someone in the title game on a nonsense hit like that

Can't have the ESSEEESEE not be the champion for more than one year

Why do we make players leave the field after targeting? It’s stupid. Can’t they hang out on the sideline and not be allowed to participate?

You morons need to read the rules.  There are two types of targeting and that was one of them.

The only mitigation was that he was lowering his helmet to avoid helmet to helmet.

Clemson's done.

defenseless receiver earlier, what are those rules?

It was textbook. The people crying about the refs in this thread do it in every thread.

Refs doing all they can to make sure lsu wins

Yeah, I’m not sure how much more obvious and embarrassing it is. This fucking clown they have for rules expert shit is terrible.

The rule is their to make players not injure themselves.

Pac12 refs blowing it. That shit sucks.

not targetting

thats a pick / offensive PA.

guys are letting LSU get away with murder

Hell no thats not targeting

Gundy and Patterson agreed it was.  They didn't see it at first, but on replay they agreed.

this is why it should be one warning with a 15 yard penalty and then the next targeting on anyone on the D that player gets kicked out.

Delpin did it earlier, Crown to the nuts different than crown to the shoulder

Don't disagree. Should have been called under the rules.

Delpit wasn’t called. Clemson shouldn’t have been called. Call it even.

I always assume/hope that they go to the locker room and get out of their pads and jersey and are able to come back out to the sideline.

Bullshit ruling on targeting -- Might as well play flag football...  DAMN

Wasn't watching that feed so I don't know context. But this just hit the news

completely agree. don't take a guy out of the goddamn champ game. infuriating. wasn't a bad hit at all. make it like a 1 QT timeout of some shit

In 2020 how can so many of you have no idea what the targeting rules are?

The refs don't even know a lot of the time.

Pretty amazing how every announcer, every CFP committee member, every network and even every conference's officiating crews are SEC biased.

Most impressive conspiracy i've ever seen.

No TD

Offensive PI.  They blocked the guy covering the receiver.  Flagrant pick.

Yeah that was my point.  Delpit's hit is why the rule exists.  This hit was just unlucky and not particularly forceful either.  I could stomach it better if both were called or neither were called, but it gets screwy when it's not consistent.

LSU/OU can’t recruit a QB out of high school. They will take him

Defenseless opponent above the shoulders.

Hitting with the crown of the helmet, any player, anywhere.

Is no one else pissed about the obvious offensive pass interference / pick play?!

Fuck.

Fine I was wrong, by the rules that’s a valid targeting call. But I hate the auto ejection though when it’s not something flagrant (like the OU dumbass in the semis)

Targeting shit is just wrong on so many levels.

Not the least of which is marching the player off the field like a condemned person heading to his last day on Death Row.  So fucking stupid.

Delpit flat out dove crown first into the dudes nuts with no attempt whatsoever to wrap up, why no call?

Fine, call the penalty. I get that. But don't eject a dude who very clearly wasn't trying to do anything malicious. If it happens twice, malicious or not, you're gone. Seems simple enough.

Absolutely, they should have you there, because you have such a profound understanding of the rule book.

The rule is designed to deter players, so getting called for it has to suck in every way possible.

Yep. That must be it. Thx. He wanted To talk to mullet about it durning the commercial break. Seemed like a big deal for both of them.

Guess we know OUs next qb

The ejection shit should be reserved for egregious hits

Used to agree with that. But when it comes to this kind of thing (completely lowering your helmet to where you can no longer see where your head is going), it becomes a coin flip on whether the result is egregious or not.

Bc LSU brah!

delpit should be in the locker room.  It is the subjective review process.  Sam got hit fucking twice against OU and neither was reviewed for targeting.

Wasn’t this the clown that said he was gonna RS to ensure more playing time at Houston once he healed up...practically telling his teammates this season won’t matter... when everyone in the world knew he was gonna jet on his team anyways?

SEC  bias about to get 10x worse with addition of Kiffin and The Pirate...

(Damn autocorrect still changes Kiffin into Muffin)
