Don’t forget that fucker, Franklin, meddled in the rape investigation during his time at Vanderbilt.

Franklin stepping away from the mircrophone is a horrible look.  The SID should have prepared a statement nearly identical to what the athetlics department shared prior.  And the AD should have had Franklin first read it and add some sort of comments sounding like he had an opinion - this is bad, guys are no longer with program, let legal system do its job, etc.  That entire department is broken.

For reference, here are some stories from pennlive.com

If ever there was a football program that deserved the death penalty, it’s Penn State.  Fuck those guys.

It's almost comical that Franklin continues to skate by despite openly encouraging his players to be predators.

Stinking’ Pedo State gonna Pedo State. I suppose the upside is they are moving into more age-appropriate sex crimes? Gotta love the headline “former Penn State players…”, as if they had no connection to that festering program. They got kicked off because of the allegations. Fuck them

So were they kicked off the team before being kicked out of school, or are they no longer on the team because Penn State expelled them. There is a difference and it's big.

From what I’ve read, they were suspended from the team before being removed. I don’t see anything about being expelled.

Edit: I see now that they are no longer enrolled at Ped St., whatever that means

Reading is fundamental

The fucked up thing is that 17 is really old for a Penn State football rape victim.

edit:

There's way more than one fucked up thing.

The assistant AD getting pissed off about the questions adds to just how messed up they are. Show a little empathy here. You don't have to add anything more than what the University put out, but check the attitude at least.

Right.  It thought some of you were crazy for recommending him here.

And its not that he didn't comment.  He walked away without saying "no comment" or "the university has already released a statement.  You will have to ask them."  You don't just walk away.

He went after a UGA player after a game when he was at Vandy because he thought he made a dirty play.  When a UGA coach intervened there was nearly a full fight.  I don't ever remember a head coach doing that with an opposing team.

Man, I've always hated James Franklin... shady as fuck. And agree, bad look for him to keep stepping away from the mic. What a reasonable and honest person would do is call out how fucked up it is to happen, apologize to all women on campus, talk about steps he is going to take to speak with players and unfortunately, remind them about boundaries and respect etc., etc. Be fucking pissed off it happened on your watch.

Most coaches contracts written in the last 10-15 years make it clear that criminal activity by their players is the responsibility of the campus police and the Dean of Men. It is not the coaches job or responsibility. The Clauses in the coaches contracts often prohibit them from investigating allegations. They are to forward all complaints to either the campus police or the Dean of Men. Since the contract exclusions have been introduced coaches still get in trouble even when complying. I recall recent accusations against coaches who heard of an incident and reported it as required by his contract. But whoever he reported it to didn't do a damn thing. So then the accuser tries to go after the coach for not following up after making a report. It is my opinion that once he tells the campus police or the Dean of Men about what he has heard his duty is complete. And realistically this is how it should have always been. The head coach has enough to do already.

Recently the Utah State head football coach got fired. And he had the "not my job" exemption. But he violated the contract by trying to vet what he heard before he reported it. So if some girl comes up to you as head coach and says a particular player raped me. You must make a report immediately. Asking her any questions like When or where can violate the exemptions in the contract. So if you ask when and she says Friday night October 18th. You can get fired for knowing that she's a liar since the accused was on the travel roster and was with the team in Dallas and not back on campus in Logan.

Exactly. Franklin going robotic like he was recently programmed by a crisis management team instead of just having character and being a human. Fucking toad. And that SID, or whoever he was, completely lost sight of the bigger issue. Yeah, dude, lash out with defensive hostility and scold the adults in the room like they're children. This is pretty much a PR layup for any institution other than Baylor or PSU. All you have to do is be regular people.

Still got 2 of his former players in prison in Nashville. Hopefully he puts money on commissary for them for keeping him out of fray!

Fuck this douchebag. You get paid plenty to take the heat, loser…

Four Vanderbilt football players were arrested on August 9, 2013, and charged with five counts of aggravated rape and two counts of aggravated sexual battery. They took graphic photos and videos of the rape. BuzzFeed reported that Franklin encouraged a player to delete graphic footage of the rape after viewing it.

I'm not disagreeing, I'm just voting to burn down 2 athletic programs forever instead of just 1.

The fact that they would hire Franklin with those Vandy allegations hanging over his head tells you all that you need to know about Pedo and it’s cesspool culture.

A good lawyer would advise his client to not bang kids or rape women. Thats the type of lawyer Penn state needs.

To be fair, the victim or accuser, shouldn’t be reporting to the fucking coach anyway. They should be going to the police.

”Fuck Them Kids”

Yeah but it’s the policy at Penn State. JoePed wanted to hear the report directly. He liked to jerk off while they told him what happened.

There was a hand-written letter that surfaced up there that GodPa had written to the university president demanding that the woman in charge of student discipline be fired.

Also that he should be the only one in charge of player discipline. This came in the early 2000s when he had about 100, or more, issues involving players.

He said he would quit fundraising for the university if the woman was not fired. I don’t need to tell you the end result there.

5 minutes ago, PittsburghTiger said:

Right. He went through gallons of lotion because he spent all his time in his office jerking off.

A couple of followup comments on this.

  • Regarding Franklin's "step back and point" response to questions, any leader, lawyer, or "whatever" affiliated with PSU would have had a canned response ready - in advance - for the coach to make.  It would have been succinct, clear, etc.  If a followup question is asked, he could either say, "I have already addressed that" or he could repeat the prepared answer, adding "that is all I will say about this topic."  Something that makes him look (1) professional and (2) prepared.
  • A while back, going directly to the coach made sense, even if it was the wrong decision.
    • Go to police.  Before the PSU, MSU, and Baylor debacles, there was a general distrust of the police, especially on college campuses.  Moreover, there was a ton of victim blaming going on.  And the police oftend did not take things like this seriously.  "Oh, she got drunk.  She was wearing blah blah blah."
    • Go to university administration or dean of students.  Similar to the police, but the "problem" would eventually make its way to the coach.  Wrong...
    • Going to the coach directly.  The perception is that the coach is an authority figure for the player and reporting to him could cut out 4-5 levels of indirection.  And, the hope is that the coach is a moral/decent human being and would punish the player or kick him off the team.  A coach's incentives revolve around winning, and a morally bankrupt coach...

That's how we get to the above problems festering.  Bad people are supported by bad leaders and bad authority figures; in many cases they are rewarded for it.

And that’s exactly why he’s a dumbass. If he does any/all of the things that you listed, it’s a complete non story.

But because he acts like an indignant asshat about it, he makes it an even bigger story.

In short, James Franklin has less awareness that internet message board assholes.
