March 26, 20187 yr i realize KU and Okie aren’t that great but starting conference 5-1 is big, regardless. This team has a lot of flaws but winning the games it’s supoosed to will go a long way.
March 27, 20187 yr So we have Texas st tomorrow, then a 3 game set against k-st, then Mcneese st at home and aggy corpus on the road. Let's rack up some wins and get us a 6-0 stretch
March 28, 20187 yr Texas is being cautious with Kam Fields because he had some injury issues. I think he's probably about to get more innings out of the pen. 4 innings pitched, 0 ERA, .167 BA, and 4 strikeouts. Edited March 28, 20187 yr by texasstrong12
March 28, 20187 yr So what's the tv/streaming options for the k-st series? Am I going to have to watch it on some shitty half ass streaming network they have?

The first game tomorrow night (Thursday) is on some local Cox cable channel in Kansas. Not sure if we'll be able to watch that one. The Friday night and Saturday games will be on watchESPN.
March 28, 20187 yr Forecast looks like it will be dry, but pretty chilly. Equipment managers need to be sure to pack the hats for bats.

March 31, 20187 yr After winning 7 of 8, I'd convinced myself that all those losses to LSU, Stanford, and Arkansas just meant that we weren't ready to compete with top ten teams, but since we were beating the teams we were supposed to beat, sometimes easily, maybe we were a fringe top 25 team with a chance to win a regional. Yeah, bullshit.
April 2, 20187 yr Whelan gets his first start tonight against Mighty McNeese State. Opposed by LHP Austin Briggs.
April 2, 20187 yr Not an overly tough schedule this week before our big matchup @College Station. Honestly 4-1 is to be expected, but who knows with this team. Losing another conference series at home against 3-6 in conf Baylor would be a disaster. Need to make sure Texas pitchers have their act together this weekend

April 2, 20187 yr Baseball is a weird "Team" sport. Probably just an overly typical individualist playing a team sport.

Injuries began soph year (ankle, knee, iirc) and continued (shoulder surgery last March). Regardless, not a fit for Pierce. Hope he attains UT Degree.

Not a good look when you have issues with 2 separate coaching staffs. Edited April 3, 20187 yr by texasstrong12

Not a good look when you have issues with 2 separate coaching staffs. I recall one suspension for an alcohol incident. Joe Baker does seem to have attitude/maturity issues. Seems to be a "little hot dog" - but so was CJ Hinojosa. My reference to "fit" meaning that he received no playing time other than pinch hit/pinch run, not even in "mop-up" time. Perhaps he was still having shoulder issues, though it was sufficient recovery time (March) for arthroscopic surgery. If healthy, not showing much respect for a redshirt junior who has battled injuries for 2 years. Hamilton played 2d with a bad shoulder. Pierce seems to prefer power hitters, 1-9. Baker is a singles guy. Perhaps there was an off-field incident in Manhattan this past weekend that warranted termination instead of suspension ? Baker would have preferred to leave/transfer with the others. His Dad is a Duke grad, probably would not approve. Like I stated, hope he attains the UT Degree.
April 3, 20187 yr There was a suspension for the DUI and I'm almost positive there was another suspension at the start of his 2nd year. I think he's a talented kid but it's pretty obvious there's some maturity issues. Either way, I wish him the best and hope he gets his UT degree.
April 3, 20187 yr Not sure how the ballpark normally plays but last year all you had to do was lift one to left field and the ball would get out. I still remember the game last year because I was amazed at how much the ball was carrying. This Shaw grand slam looked like a normal fly out off the bat. Edited April 3, 20187 yr by texasstrong12

April 3, 20187 yr What's the storm/rain impact for the game tonight at CS? Over under for delays and cancel?

April 3, 20187 yr Horns play in CS next Tuesday. Anyone here brave enough to go? I'm thinking about rounding up some tickets.
April 3, 20187 yr Going to take son to his first texas game april 21. Where is the best seats not to burn up and parking?

April 4, 20187 yr I'm ready to play ousucks. I think it's going to be the next real series that will show where we are.
April 4, 20187 yr Horns play in CS next Tuesday. Anyone here brave enough to go? I'm thinking about rounding up some tickets. I’m going, I think my gf who doesn’t care is going too. Already have tickets. Doc said no, something about having to work on Wednesday.
April 4, 20187 yr So if I'm looking at this correctly, we are 3-5 in opening games of multi-game series. The breakdown: Kingham 2-1 Shugart 0-1 O'Donnell 1-0 Ridgeway 0-1 Henley 0-2 So, keep starting Kingham on Fridays? What an odd season. We seem to be doing OK midweek but struggle getting out of the gate on weekends.
April 4, 20187 yr My rotation would be: Friday - Kingham Saturday - Henley Sunday - O'Donnell Midweek - Bocchi
April 4, 20187 yr I think we need to see a lot more of Fields, Robinson and McGuire out of the bullpen.
