Are Ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine completely ineffective?

No, they work really well for parasites and malaria.

Welp, it finally happened. I snapped in public today. I went into work for a bit this morning because I’m trying to figure out the safest way to host physicians we are recruiting given our CV-19 sit

  • I don't really know what to say anymore tbh. What happened last night is hard to put into words for anyone who hasn't worked in a hospital healthcare setting. Just unreal. Everyone is getting fucked.

I tested positive yesterday and made the mistake of letting my mom and stepdad know, and now my stepdad’s son in law, who is an antivax doctor, has called in a prescription of ivermectin for me.

Ask him if you can get a salt lick as well

Hell if I know. All I know is that he has 1488 in his wifi network name and I'm sure my mom has mentioned to him at some point in passing that my dad was Jewish. So maybe he prescribed a dosage that would actually be effective at killing covid, along with me as well.

Had to look up 1488 wtf? That is insane

The Great Reframing will start. The usual suspects will begin to reframe the narrative. It wasn’t a big deal. The children were forever harmed by missing school. It was all for political control. They want to take away your rights, etc. The 850K dead won’t matter, because they don’t give a shit about them.

This was always going to be the play once we got out of it.

For what it's worth, FM 1488 runs through Magnolia. Seems a little too on the nose to me, but you never know.

Maybe he really likes Paul Thomas Anderson movies and this is his way of showing love for the folks back (cinematically) home?

I s'pose I should have been clearer. 1488 is a widespread slogan. I was just pondering all the things other than email addresses and Twitter handles that make use of it. I could easily picture rural Michigan, for example, being home to the 1488 Saloon and Gun Range.

Also, an anecdote from my son, who is apparently a smart-ass troll.  His German exchange brother is in town, so we've been showing him around town.  He's Catholic, so yesterday, they went into the cathedral to check it out.

As they get near the front, there's a man who had come in to kneel before the altar, say a silent prayer, then sit in the pew.  He was wearing a shirt that said something along the lines of "unvaxxed, unmasked, unafraid."  The boy sees this, and tells buddy and his sister to "follow my lead."

He walks to the front of the church, stands in front of the altar, and takes the hand of each of them, to lead them in prayer out loud, something along the lines of "Heavenly father, we stand before you in prayer, and we offer our thanks for the gifts you've given us: the scientists who have developed the vaccines for this terrible illness, the medical leaders who have administered these life-saving vaccines, and who have provided us thoughtful and caring guidance throughout this pandemic, etc. etc."

Yeah.  He's a troll.  But I chuckled.

The Midwest is truly a hell scape of nativist idiocy now. They bitch about globalism and the decline of small locally-owned businesses while buying stacks of cheap Chinese-made clothes and mass-produced junk food from Walmart and Dollar General. They bemoan the lack of high-paying manufacturing jobs for high school dropouts and then vote for the assholes who busted the unions (and spew vitriol at politicians who might actually help them). They call themselves American patriots while waving Confederate flags and expressing coded support for Naziism.

It’s fucking depressing.

Take comfort in the fact that the Ogallala aquifer is about to dry up, and when it does, it will also be a hellscape of drought, lost topsoils, famine, blistering heat, disease, migration induced poverty, and lack of access to basic services.

It's probably going to soon be like that everywhere to be fair.

It sure seems like Omicron is going to burn through everywhere in the next few weeks unless there are lockdowns.  And there aren't going to be lockdowns.

Testing at Long Center in Austin was 28% positivity rate the other day.

Fauci says the reduced isolation period is because of the expected volume of cases.

That’s reasonable given the decreased severity of the illness associated with omicron, whether that is due to the mutations or the fact that a majority of Americans at this point are vaxed, recovered from infection w another variant, or both.

So far no hospital I work at has postponed elective surgery. To me that’s very encouraging given the sheer number of cases

So - Oklahoma then?

Clearly you’re not paying attention to the posts where we (checks notes) faulted Biden for the failure to get more tests out to the public more quickly.
