Just to clarify what pieces of shit Joe Rogan, RFK Jr., and Elon Musk are. The doctor in the clip above has dedicated his life to developing vaccines and treatment for poor people suffering from tropi

  • The only time I've ever listened to him was basically under duress.  I had an old friend and his lunatic wife who were basically begging me to watch the youtube clip of his podcast with Brett Weinstei

It’s not even that, having Zelenskyy on would hinder his ultimate goals.

The new media literacy is to move from a content-driven analysis to an outcome driven analysis.  The baseline question being: do consumers of this media come away with a more or less informed and reality based understating of the topics discussed.

For Rogan, the answer is clearly less informed and reality based. You can clearly file his platform away as a manipulator of information. As such, his platform cannot be reformed or used successfully by anyone hoping to advance a reality-based conversation or solution.

It’s important to note that even clearly slanted media can pass this test.  For instance, though the mid-2000s a regular reader of either The New Republic or National Review would arguably have a better (if politically slanted) grasp of politics and world events than a irregular consumer of mainstream media outlets.  The same cannot be said of Rogan, his listeners are far more likely to simply believe absolute bullshit.

His posture as an unbiased and unafraid open interviewer makes him even more toxic.  Elevating alien theorists and quacks to the same level of actual scientists or doctors doesn’t reveal the idiocy of the former.  Rather, it introduces confusion and a plausible belief that fantasy bullshit and reality are both equally justified beliefs.

Again— he exists to manipulate information and has become an extremely influential and powerful person as a result. The purpose of a system is what it does.

I was today old when I learned that Rogen is 5'6" or something.  It all makes more sense now.

Ultimately there is no choice, kissing the ring was the right thing to do if you were behind, fucking unbelievable to me that they projected so much confidence knowing the real numbers.

Look I make hold no illusions, and I thought it was best to stay away, but that was when I was blind to the internal survey disaster. you stay away if you are ahead not if you are behind. Democrats have 0 inroads to the meathead population, not after supporting giga disasters like being on the idelogical side of Amber Heard (something like 95% of the population though she was guilty but the media still covered for her).

Well my entire family has been calling every Democrat under the sun a liar while also swearing that Trump doesn't lie at all. You can't even reason with people who are that disconnected from reality.

Endorsing Trump because you have concerns about Walz’s honesty is like endorsing becoming a heroin addict because you freaked out on an edible.

Its a lie a filthy fucking lie, he is a guilt ridden mf that wants to use any excuse to say whatever the fuck to sleep better at night.

At the end of the day we can't overthink shit ever again, Waltz was the most popular of the 4 he was a great pick the fundamentals were sound the failure came in limiting his rural populism, instead to asking him to be a "male role model" I really can't overstate how fucked we are that we allow the progressive media to try to define masculinity.

He was for Trump all the way, full of shit as always.

Rogan is dumb, but he knows who butters his bread.

He and His audience want a circus show, the conspiracy, and a departure from reality.

Trump brings all that.

How the fuck are you going to get high or laugh interviewing Kamala Harris or the president of Ukraine? Fucking bummer, man.

Nerds and the real world are boring and give folks the sads.

I don't think so, not all the way, he could have endorsed the clown early and often instead he half assed an endorsement at the 11th hour, he could have not corrected Trump 4 times about Harris ducking his interview.

The problem is he was a coward that refused to do what is right, instead cowtowed to his audience and the usual naive idea that you can influence Donald Trump in a quid pro quo, you can't.

I have come to the conclusion that there was absolutely nothing that could have been done in 2024 or even 2023 to prevent the Trump disaster, the endorsements were meaningless, the debates were meaningless (How many times did I say this? Kamala won hers by 66%... meaningless), the donations were meaningless, our fate was sealed in 2022 at the latest with the obsession to fall into the inflation Willy E Coyote trap.

Friend: Texts me a Rogan clip and some accompanying links.

Me: I saw that too.  It’s intriguing but inaccurate.  I dId My OwN rEsEaRcH and here is what I found: (sends link and screenshots.).

(The most recent regards this narrative that Polio was almost burnt through when the vax came and the vax was/is of little value.

Friend: “Your facts are fake.”

Me: “This is so dumb I don’t know what to say.  Gonna just disengage.”

Friend: “See.  I’m right.”

Gonna be four full years of deciding all the time to engage and maybe change some minds, or just tune out and wait for the FAFO.  Exhausting.

That sounds like most discourse during the trump era, tbh

I don't disagree but I do think you're leaving out the negative press effort to make issues appear bigger, or that there are more issues than there really are. If you get people pissed off enough they'll just go with whatever keeps the rage going.

Here's hoping they realize their faces are getting eaten by the leopards

NSIAP, I watched this Tim Heidecker episode last night and it's fucking amazing. It's a satire of a Joe Rogan podcast, where everyone nonsensically spews bullshit for over an hour. It's one of the most brilliant bits I've ever seen and they never break character. His Rogan "impersonation" is on point, and the two other guys are perfect representations of his guests. I love it so much.

I am dying listening to this. Keyboard meet coffee laughter.

"we broke out of the food chain."

"But are we..?"

"we are in it."

The back and forth for bro-agreements is perfect.

Sometimes, the algorithm works well. This brilliant YouTube account "The Elephant Graveyard" does takedowns of Rogan and his merry band of dipshit comedians in Austin.

It's strange and awesome and incredibly funny. Art.

Lol I just watched this. It's so fucking good.

I feel bad because I started watching his show way back at the beginning because I was a huge fan of Newsradio. And I defended and supported this dude for years.

But in 2021 he lost the plot entirely. Covid I guess. Amazing how a thing that Trump managed so badly ended up benefiting Trump a ton.

I was in the same boat, and he lost me during Covid as well.

He absolutely changed his outlook, message, and completely bit into the MAGA verse.  Who he was prior to that was fine for the most part, and I don't really feel bad about listening to his show or vouching for him back then, but man he lost the trail as hard as anyone ever has.

How closely does his change coincide with his big contract?

It's pretty close.  I was losing interest shortly before he moved to Spotify, but I don't think I've listened to a single pod since he made that switch.

So it was coming ahead of that, but it's gotten much worse in the aftermath.

Will never not be fascinating to me that his podcast is what turned people off Joe Rogan, as opposed to his entire way of being his whole fucking life.

I am very tolerant of other people's foibles and Joe seemed like a guy who was interested in learning and getting better.

Plus, as I said, I loved Newsradio and early on he had guys like Dave Foley on to talk about the show.

Also I am a sports fan, I love tons of very imperfect people.

It was really most of what I knew of him.  I liked Newsradio, didn't really follow his stand up, but I enjoyed the show back when he was bringing in legitimately interesting people and I felt like I was being exposed to some worthwhile things.

And to that end, I was.  I wouldn't know SC Gwynne if not for JRE.  I've absolutely learned and been entertained from his (Gwynne's) work.

The podcast turned me off because it became obvious that either he was really, really stupid or that he had absolutely no moral compass and was just willing to host anyone for the right money.  He no longer felt like a flawed, but earnest person who was legitimately interested in expanding themselves.  He was suckled to the teat of the great right wing grift.

He was literally the exact same guy.

It's the same as Trump, a guy I've despised since about 1988 when I was still in school. Their issues have been on full display their entire lives, I truly just have no idea what people are looking at when they see some of these people, it's not anything subtle but blatantly obvious personality traits. It's like the leopards thread with every regretful voter, "oh who could have known?!" Um, like every non moron? The guy making people eat roaches on Fear Factor and tells lame bro jokes in his standup is a shithead, doesn't take a MENSA level psychologist to figure that one out.

Well I didn't see it. He seemed like he was progressive in a lot of ways. Supported Bernie and spoke positively about both homosexuals and transgendered people and was against racism. That is not to say he also said stupid things but I thought his heart was in the right place.

But you were right and I was wrong. My face was eaten by this particular leopard.

Yeah, I mean I get that's how it went down, but I truly don't get how you didn't cotton on earlier, it was just so apparent. And I'm not bagging on you or anything, I'm truly mystified with what people look at with other humans, celebrities in particular. I just don't get how these people slide by large segments of the population.

Rogan used to be funny, now he's just kind of a miserable piece of shit. That's what the YouTube video highlights.

As I said to @Al_4_ISU, I'm truly not hating on you or anything. I'm just stumped and don't get it, which is probably as much an indictment of my blind spot as anyone.

I saw him live in detroit in 2019. He was funny.

Trump, Musk, and Rogan.

The three-headed monster of deeply insecure dipshits masquerading as Alphas who have poisoned the American psyche and ripped us apart. Embarrassing.

I thought he was sort of dumb, but well meaning and open minded.

I don't mind people like that at all.  It also seemed like he had a level of self awareness about it that eventually turned into a sort of parody.

The grifting side of wasn't evident to me at all prior to Covid.  He really did have people from all sides, and the left leaning people weren't just chum.  He took a hard right pivot after Covid.
