We've all been there. Stranded with limited resources yet the Merlin within comes through. I'm talking more than whisky with Pepsi or vodka with Sunkist Orange. Drinks that are actually good and you would consider ordering even if you weren't forced to.

Improvise. Adapt. Overcome.

I humbly submit the Diet 7-Up & tequila. The lime forward flavor of D7U melds with tequila in a very spectacular way. Regular 7Up or Sprite don't even fall in the same ballpark.

I’ve done rotgut gin & cherry Sprite Zero, not bad. But I don’t think Sprite makes that anymore.

Any type of cinnamon whiskey and Dr. Pepper. Damn good.

Jim Beam and Big Red, preferably in a large Sonic cup, was a go to in high school.

Rotgut spiced rum and cheepo ginger ale (2 liter bottle to save $) on ice is nice.

Fireball and that Honey Crisp apple cider that they sell at HEB (when its open).

Southern comfort and Dr Pepper.  Syrup with syrup.

Holy headache, batman.

Benchmark 8 bourbon with just a few drops of OJ, or lime juice, or whatever's citrusy sweet in your fridge. Hobo old fashioned.

Rotgut non-spiced rum & cherry Dr Pepper also works.

Vanilla extract, straight from the bottle.

Also, when we kayak the Devils River, we bring space bags.  Wine-in-a-box without the box.  Tie a length of paracord to it when we stop for the night and drop it in the river to cool off.  Cab in a bag tastes amazing out of a coffee cup.

Old Crow. Unfortunately it seems inconsistent. I've had bottles that weren't bad, and others that had a strong "off" flavor. Medicinal, but not in a good way like Laphroig. If you mix with Coke...yeah...whatever. It's not for sipping neat, but it will get you through hard times. Comes in a plastic bottle, so what do you expect?

Hoi Polloi

Mountain Dew and Tanqueray

Seagram's gin and Hill Country Fare Lemon Lime soda.

Damn near any liquor in a cherry limeade slush.
