January 31, 20205 yr Just now thinking about this. I'm leaning towards smoking a pork butt on Saturday then using that for sliders, tacos, etc.
January 31, 20205 yr HEB, kroger, and walmart all had similar pricing (~$2.50) for choice packers. HEB had better prime pricing (~3.50) than costco ($4). got a very nice choice 13 pounder from HEB.
January 31, 20205 yr I have to work all weekend, no time for a good cook. I'm gonna buy some round tortilla chips, some canned Rico's nacho cheese, and some Totino's frozen pizzas. Going old-school poor-boy.
January 31, 20205 yr I'm going to smoke beef cheeks (for tacos) for the first time on my Big Green Egg. Might get something else to keep them company on the smoker. I'm also making a whole bunch of taco meat so people can build-their-own tacos or bowls. (Under orders to dial back my game-day cooking obligations for some reason.)
January 31, 20205 yr Author I think I’m going to keep it simple this year. Shrimp cocktail with the spicy cocktail sauce you can get from the HEB seafood department, the already cooked shrimp from the same department. Chips and quesoStuffed jalapeños Chili dogsBeer and wine
February 1, 20205 yr Told each of the kids that they get to pick a course. Kid 1: macaroni and cheese. Gonna do fried macaroni and cheese. Kid 2: Ribs. Kid 3: Nachos. Works for me.

February 1, 20205 yr Make the nachos from rib meat?Gotta say...I love pulled pork nachos. Little beans, melted cheese, chunks of pulled pork, sweet and spicy jalapeño slices, a little drizzle of bbq sauce...solid.

February 3, 20205 yr Made breakfast for the kids on the griddle. Then pizza and cheesebread during the first half. Pizza turned out great. I used a mix of whole milk mozz and Wisconsin brick. Light sauce and Delallo stick pepperoni (better than Boars head imo). Dessert during halftime. No pics but if any of you all have kids and want to make a special treat this turned out spectacular according to the judges. I see there are Baked Bears in TX. My kids all time favorite food is something they used to have on their menu but no longer do. The ice cream donut. I was able to recreate. Krispy Kreme donuts - get them without glaze. Slice them length wise like a bagel. A 2/3 scoop of Ice cream per donut, sprinkles, powdered sugar, icing if desired Parchment paper. I used a panini press/griddler like this with the flat plates. If you don't have one I'm sure a frying pan would work, you would just have to flip. 10 seconds pressed at 300. Sprinkle with the powdered sugar and top with icing when done.
February 3, 20205 yr No pics. Fam slammed the food pretty quick and I was doing my best to see what was at the bottom of my bottle of Titos. Servied with Irish butter and honey. Edited February 3, 20205 yr by BabaYaga

February 3, 20205 yr No pics, but we made chili dogs with the leftover chili, and I smoked/sous vide a Boston Butt for pulled pork that we used in pulled pork bbq nachos (with japs, quick pickled red onions, cheddar, and BBQ sauce).
