We can and do shit on Del Conte for various reasons and some are justified.

But it's also very justified to say that this is very cool of him.  And, yeah, why he didn't have a private jet on speed dial I dunno. But he's just rolling with a couple of strangers, doing what it takes to get to the game.

Can you imagine Dodds doing such a thing?  Or Patterson?  Probably Perrin either, but I cut him some slack.

Why no BMD stepped up with prrivate aircraft? Was errbody grounded?

CDC has lost his mind. He could have easily flown into Chicago and driven an hour north to Milwaukee

Don't think these two tweets should be together...🙄

This is the same guy who replies to basically everyone on Twitter who tweets him.  He's all about fan and alumni engagement.

What are the odds that CDC and that Wheels dude hooked up?

You’re asking if CDC got wheels off?

This seems scripted. If not flying on the team charter, he would have access to a number of private aircraft.

Are we supposed to know who those dudes are?

I googled the “wheels” guy. Apparently he is an attorney.

So yeah, seems like there would be plenty of money laying around or friends to have found an alternative. It could be just one of those “hey, let’s do this moment”. Who knows? Kudos for CDC for sharing and being a normal person.

If you're going to script something as an AD I'd just do a photo op at a Buc-ee's.

Not a 19-hour drive surrounding it.

That…..is so fucking cool. Wheels is an old friend of mine (his older sister was one of my best friend in college), and he’s a cool sonofabitch. Many moons ago, we got drunk at a horse track, picking the ponies and debating the merits of new recruit Matt Nordgren. And he married into longhorn royalty, so his orange blood is through-and-through. If this was going to happen to anyone, it was going to be Wheels.

Holy shit, that's Wheels Smith.

Yup, one of my fraternity brothers.

It’s insane to me how many of the same people we know really well.  I’ve known wheels’ brother (water attorney) and his wife for 25+ years.  I asked DS about this today and his reply, “yep; this kinda shit could only happen to my fucking brother. “

Yep. Know the whole clan (although I’ve only met DS maybe a couple of times). Wheels’ older sister was one of my first friends at UT. And yeah, I had a bit of a crush on her back in the day. Hell, I only found out about this story when she told me today.

That room is a better burnt orange than our end zones.

I'm glad it's only in a handful of residence halls, they should with that.  If you're more comfortable in a single-sex, traditional dormitory arrangement, that'll still be the plurality/majority of rooms on campus.

Not condoning nor condemning this, but do remember...well over 17,000 students live in West Campus.  In buildings where there is no gender requirement.  Individual units have mixed genders as roommates; hallways/floors/buildings are filled with multiple members of all sexes, all co-mingled with no rules.  There are another 10,000 scattered throughout Austin who live in similar "open-gender" arrangements.  It's good that there'll be options still.

Not sure what this has to do with del Conte, but it was mentioned upthread.

If they had that back in my day, I would have laid pipe 24/7.

I presume that translates to 'would have been arrested more easily.'
