I was disappointed they didn't do it when they did the renovation in '06-07. I was hoping they would do a complete teardown and build something with the open concourses and two decks. The University owns more of the land to the east of the stadium now. We need to ask the City of Austin to close Comal Street and build something with two decks and/or some outfield seating. Maybe bite the bullet and redo McCombs Field at the same time.

Coach Gus had a hand in the layout of DFF when it was built. He had the direction set up just like Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha so it would be the same as far the sun.

June 6, 20241 yr https://texassports.com/news/2024/6/6/forty-acres-insider-june-6.aspx Hey y'all, we've got to talk about our VOLLEYBALL GLOBETROTTERS! We won a bunch of matches and put on our typical incredible display of skills and thrills on the courts, but our two-time defending National Champion Longhorn Volleyball squad's globetrotting experience across Europe was so much more than that. In our theme of WHAT STARTS HERE CHANGES THE WORLD, Coach Elliott and our Horns spent two weeks overseas training, competing and developing as a team while experiencing European culture, learning and seeing so many new things, and building bonds off the court, as well. The five-city tour started in Istanbul, Turkey; before heading to Budapest, Hungary; Maribor, Slovenia; and Milan and Busto Arsizio, Italy. It featured seven great matches and provided a lifetime of amazing memories for our student-athletes. What a rousing success it was, introducing folks in Europe to the premier college program in America, and our hosts were truly awesome. We were welcomed with open arms at every stop. Thank You, ladies, for representing Our University on the worldwide stage! Finally, we're so excited to welcome our new Women's Golf Head Coach Laura Ianello. An All-American player herself who was a national champion as both a player and head coach at Arizona, what she accomplished in 14 seasons as the head coach of the Wildcats was incredible. We really enjoyed our visits with her, she absolutely checks all the boxes as a coach and leader and is the perfect person to continue the rich and proud tradition of our Women's Golf program. Join me in welcoming Coach Ianello to the Longhorn Family! Rowing wins third National Championship in four years! Well folks, it's time to make space in the Frank Denius Family University of Texas Athletics Hall of Fame for another National Championship trophy! That's right, Coach O'Neill and our Rowing team brought home our third national title in the last four years (yessiree) in dominating fashion in Bethel, Ohio, over the weekend. Texas became just the third program to win three NCAA titles over a four-year stretch, joining Brown (1999-2000, '02) and Ohio State (2013-15)! It marked the first time Texas has won two races at the same national championship after cruising to wins in the Four and First Eight. The Longhorns also totaled a program-record of 130 total points, three ahead of runner-up Stanford. The Longhorns started off strong with its second consecutive national title in the Four. Texas dominated from the start of the race, cruising to an open-water triumph in 6:59.555. In a thrilling race from start-to-finish, the Longhorns earned the win in the First Eight over Stanford, the final race of the day, to solidify the national crown. With the victory, Texas' First Eight has gone undefeated in three of the last four seasons (talk about impressive!). Congrats to all of our athletes, coaches and staff in our Rowing program and let's get ready to Light the Tower again!
June 25, 20241 yr Goddamn. I fully expect a new line item in next years athletic's budget just to cover the annual insurance premium on CDC's gigantic balls.
