April 10, 20187 yr i kind of agreed with him on the direction that silicon valley was headed, but his manner of handling it seemed over-the-top douchebag. this is a weird story. i'm betting there was more than alcohol involved.

While voluntary intoxication has never been a defense to a crime, state criminal courts are far more forward-thinking in their willingness to consider addiction and intoxication as factors in mitigation of criminal liability, e.g. "drug courts" and diversion programs for those who are not otherwise "criminal types," that is, first-offenders with somewhat unusual or petty crimes. The feds, on the other hand, have almost no such programs and non-incarcerative punishment is the exception rather than the rule. See, e.g. Alex Van Der Zwaan. Of course, he is a white guy with some money and a college education, so he might "escape justice." Edited April 10, 20187 yr by TwiceHorn
April 10, 20187 yr saying you think something is suspicious (even if you're full of shit) doesn't constitute "calling in a bomb threat" does it? if he's claiming she was acting like she may have had a bomb that seems impossible to prove he was intentionally lying just to screw her over. i have no idea what he was overheard saying while wasted though.
