Lakers' first game since Kobe's passing- starting now on TNT

Featured Replies

Just the pregame ceremonies alone are bringing out the emotions. I'm hoping for a very close game and an incredible night, culminating with an epic Lakers win.

that was the best, most moving rendition of Amazing Grace I've ever heard.

TNT?? Or ESPN??

TNT.

Is this a funeral? Because it feels like a funeral.

I thought that it was so distractingly slow that it was almost impossible to follow, let alone carry a moving tune. To each his own.

Imagine what he could with the Anthem on Sunday.

i find amazing Grace to be an incredibly boring song, so i really enjoyed what he did with it.

I'm just rooting so hard for Quin Cook tonight. I hope he gets a brilliant moment or two out there, preferably late in the 4Q.

Yeah, but did you had the over on him?

That's a quintessential American style of singing.  Before we got that gospelish style and all the other derivations of it, people were singing operatically and just mimicking whatever was done in Europe.

LeBron is still such an impressive athlete. I'm a month older than he is, and if i go shoot baskets today then my bicep will be sore tomorrow. Ridiculous.

off to a good start.

Lakers playing Bron, AD, Javale, Green, and Bradley. That's a big lineup, but when you have freaks like AD and LeBron I guess you can do that. Lakers are winning the title this year if they stay healthy.

Holy shit, Dame.

he is something else.

Whiteside having himself a game. He, Dame, and AD have all showed out, while LeBron has been more quiet than i would have anticipated.

Whiteside is 13-14 shooting with 30 points, 12 rebounds and 5 blocks. That's a hell of a stat line.

AD- 14-22 FG, 3-5 3PA, 37 pts, 15 reb, 6 ast, 5 blk.

I was at work and saw the pre-game ceremony. There was no way they were going to win. They were emotionally drained before they took the court. Dealing with a tragedy like this can take a mighty toll on any of us, much less dealing with the loss of someone they all considered a brother and having to do so while being in the public eye constantly.

I am glad they honored him properly and LeBron spoke straight from the heart which was nice. I do not like to hear Amazing Grace. The last time I heard it was at my dad's funeral while the bagpipes were playing it. Just brings back a sad memory. I thought Usher did a tremendous job with it though. I sing in a gospel choir in the Bronx and this is the style I would've heard it in at church.

He has really been playing well this yr.   It will be interesting to see what POR does with him before the trade deadline since he was always considered a placeholder until Nurkic returned.

Another thing I didn't notice, which Frank Vogel was asked about at the post-game presser: everyone played. All thirteen guys on the active roster got minutes. Very cool gesture, but not conducive to winning.
