April 10, 20187 yr Going to the Astro's game on Saturday, but otherwise totally, free. Male friend from High School is going with me. No kids or wives are going with me. What should I do? Edited April 10, 20187 yr by Jameslaw121

April 10, 20187 yr 8th Wonder Brewery isn't too far from Minute Maid. That is a good spot for some pre-game brews https://8thwonder.com/brews.
April 10, 20187 yr I'd post up on a good patio somewhere with some cold beers: Pub Fiction; 8th Wonder; West Alabama Ice House; Front Porch Pub; The Ginger Man (now two locations); etc. St. Arnold's is OK, but there are much better options. Bernard

April 11, 20187 yr Author Thanks for all the recs! We're staying at a hotel near the ballpark. Any of these close to that. trying not to drive, and would rather spend money on the beer rather than uber.

I've never gone wrong getting beers at Little Woodrow's EaDo and Lucky's before Astros games.

It is 3 or so blocks down from the soccer stadium which is only a few blocks south and east of Minute Maid. Your hotel might be closer to 8th Wonder, depending on where you are staying.

April 11, 20187 yr I can tell this place isn't exactly Shaggy, because still no one has recommended Treasures or St James.

The entire Market Square and Main St. area a block over will give you plenty of options to drink. Eat at Xochi if you want a higher end meal, and they also have a good Sunday brunch. Hoggbirds Rooftop Lounge is pretty nice for a drink. As stated above Eight Wonder would be the closest brewery. You could eat some good bbq from Buck's. Lucky's, Little Woodrow's, and there area a couple of bars across the street from the stadium for drinking before the game.
April 11, 20187 yr Downtown food and drink: Xochi, Moving Sidewalk, Pastry War, and of course Warren’s. Short Uber to Julep or Anvil which are great cocktail bars.
April 11, 20187 yr Is that your place? 8th Wonder is not my place. But I popup there on Saturdays starting at noon. I will not be there (myself), because I’ll be setting up for Houston BBQ Festival. But my minions will be at 8th Wonder slanging meat

April 12, 20187 yr Original Ninfa's is within a mile of the ballpark. Dak & Bop is just a few miles south for Korean fried chicken and a pretty solid beer selection.Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
April 12, 20187 yr Since when does Champ have minionsWait, you’re not showing up to run the popup for me?

You are correct, and it is awesome. http://joystixgames.com/pacman-fever-friday/ Unfortunately, unless things have changed, they are only open on the first and last Fridays each month. So It won't line up with your trip.

April 12, 20187 yr I only do prime rib on Friday. Most popups are limited to brisket, ribs, sausage, boudin, and a poultry, with tater salad as the side

April 12, 20187 yr Author Another question. We're leaving Dallas around one. Any places yall recommend to stop and eat? Specifically BBQ, buy anything would work too
April 12, 20187 yr Author Yeah, I haven't driven to Houston since 1999.... So any places we should stop would be cool. And I don't mind stopping for a drink or two if there is a cool bar or brewery or something.

April 13, 20187 yr Just so you know what your getting into if you decide to go to Eighth Wonder or Hollman Draft House; this is what Buck's BBQ looked like for lunch today at Lucky's Lodge.
