He seems to be sort of the "it" guy right now, but he hasn't blown me away in anything i've seen him in (not that i've seen a ton of his work in the first place). what are the best movies that he's been in, and what are some of his best performances (if they aren't in the aforementioned movies)? i'll hang up now and listen.

Is he being shoved down your throat too?

I enjoyed Logan Lucky and he had a small part in Inside Llewyn Davis that cracked me up.  Marriage Story was not my cup of tea but I wouldn't say it's a bad movie and Driver does good work there too.

I'm sure all three would thoroughly enjoy my company, and my mad cooking skillz. also, turns out Andrew Luck is awesome, and i've done a 180 on him, so he'd be more than welcome.

As for the other two, I could use the opportunity to ask Adam Driver what movies he's good in, and to ask Shaka, "Yo what the fuck man?!"

He was excellent in this however.

Wait . . . you haven't seen him in any of the Star Wars movies?

I think he's okay overall, but was perfectly cast as Kylo Ren in The Force Awakens.

Yeah, but J.J. Abrams fucked up the camera work in TFA so far as making him menacing. Unless that is what he wanted.

Until I saw Logan Lucky I had no idea that the guy was as big as he is, Close to 6’-3”, and 210 lbs. He should have towered over Ridley’s 5’-6” frame. Especially in character and costumes.

I think I saw the first "new" Star Wars with Ewan McGregor and it sucked worse that than the original third installment with the little Muppet bears running around.

It has sucked ever since.

That's a good point, but was probably intentional on the part of Abrams so as not to make the heroine appear so diminutive.  Kind of like how directors have historically gone to great lengths to mask just how short Tom Cruise is.

his face looks like if someone with cerebral palsy was trying to sketch keanu reeves from memory.

Can't argue with that.   But Force Awakens was a nice course correction for the franchise.  Give it a shot.

You serious, Clark?

There's no way Han Solo and Princess Leia would have such an ugly kid.  That totally ruined the believability of the movies for me.

I stopped watching Girls before the ass eating season, but he actually wasn’t bad in that. He did well, especially considering the fact that his character was supposed to be a little nuts in order to believably and voluntarily date Lena Dunham’s character.

If I could pick 3 people to have dinner with Derka it’d be Shaka Smart, Adam Driver and Andrew Luck.

How dare you leave Awkwafina off the dinner list.

Adam Driver Braski

I first saw him in Girls on HBO and he was great, although the series was bizzare.

so a bunch of people flying around the universe doing battle with swords made of suspended perpetual lasers seems believable to you?

He's terrible in the star wars movies but I don't think it's his fault because the writing for the villain is so whiny and cunty.

So I have to say Adam Driver is just ok.

Baby Driver is the better Driver. Minnie too.

He was funny in that

he's very, very tall.

he's a very good actor. he hits emotional notes extremely well.

i dug him as Kylo Ren,

and he's sexy-ugly, which makes him unique in Hollywood (William Dafoe, Mick Jagger, Sean Penn are other examples, in case y'all don't know what sexy-ugly is lol). his height and his general alpha-male demeanor add to that.

Patterson is the best vehicle for appreciating Driver. Just you and Driver, hanging out, and writing pomes.  And a bulldog.

Their kid would suffer from fetal alcohol syndrome and heroin addiction, and generally be born high as a fucking kite. I’d say his look was pretty accurate.

Do yourself a favor and just erase it

Jarmusch is hit or miss, but the hits mean I owe it to him to sit through the misses.

Virtually all of his roles are well acted. That doesn't mean all of them are likable (e.g., Adam from Girls, or his character in Frances Ha) or well written (e.g., Kylo Ren), but his acting is usually very good. He was excellent in Marriage Story.

SIAP but wasn’t he in the military before he began acting?

Haha, what a fucking dork

Yes, seems to be why some may not like him.
