Sort of. Frasier was already established as straight so that wouldn't have worked. I think they took elements of what would become Will and Grace and used it for Frasier, but made them straight brothers instead of gay.

I mean it could’ve worked in a “hey I just realize I’m gay” sort of way. He was quite effeminate.    Of course Kelsey Grammer is pretty hard right in real life.

I actually enjoyed the reboot more than I thought I would. There's a little something there.

Has Frasier/Kelsey Grammer's giant titties fetish post Maris been discussed?

That must of been a fun conversation in the writers' room when Grammer insisted Shannon Tweed appear on the show.

Lilith?

Maris was Niles wife and we never saw her much less the size of her tits.

Dammit. Yes Lilith.

My god. I was searching for a clip from Frasier, the original Cheers spinoff, and came across this clip from the reboot. Holy crap, it looks even worse than I imagined. Does my necro-bump confirm that the show no longer has any apologists? This looks awful.

(Although Lilith — still would. Don’t judge.)

It had it’s moment but of course no where as magical as the original.

After the first season, it has potential to grow, as did the first iteration, which really didn’t come into its own until S3. Not that 1/2 were bad, but they were the warm-up for what was to come.

I bailed on the new show after a few episodes. It felt like a generic shitty 90s show, and kind of made me sad.

I hated it at first, but each episode got better. In the end, it wasn’t bad. Hopefully, they can regain more mojo in the next season.

It's not bad. It's not great, either.

I don’t think they should have tried after David Hyde Pierce said no. The heart of the show is Frasier and Niles bickering, reconciling, and then bickering again.

Also, it’s just not the same without John Mahoney.

Lilith is hot. The horse has been beaten to death.

I guess Mel is the closest we’ll get to Maris depicted on film.

Tom Hanks calling in some favorA to get Rita cast as Frasier’s date AND mother must have been a fun conversation.

I’m finishing Season 11. Congratulations on pulling off the 90’s huge titties trio of Shannon Tweed, Jennifer Tilly, and Rosie Perez. I didn’t think the casting director had it in them.

I finished Frasier. I liked the mild twist at the end.

Some thoughts:

- The show declined after Niles married Daphne. It changed the whole group dynamic and unfortunately we got much less Frasier and Niles scenes. The same thing happened on Friends. Chandler marries Monica and there’s no reason for him to hang out with Joey anymore.

- John Mahoney was a delight. A terrific actor who was consistently a funny hard man to Frasier and Niles’ daintiness. I’ll forgive the musical number.

- Did we get enough Roz or not enough? I need to think about it. She’s a beautiful woman and funny, but the sexually empowered woman with a heart of gold was pretty 1 note. I enjoyed her verbal sparring matches with Niles. The 2 had some chemistry. A Niles-Roz mess around episode would have worked.

- Gil’s attempts at projecting heterosexuality were always hilarious.

- Bebe stole every scene she was in. The episode where she sleeps with Fraiser and feigns suicide might be my favorite episode. Frasier’s realization that she’s the devil was great.

- The Cheers cameos were hit or miss. The Ted Danson cameo felt very forced. Carla losing her shit because Cliff stayed in Boston was pretty good. Woody’s appearance was great because Woody can’t not be funny.

- Bulldog has the greatest agent of all time. No idea how that guy made the poster. He wasn’t in the finale, and barely in the back half of the show. But there he is hugging Roz on the Hulu interface. Hell Daphne’s brother and mother are in more episodes.

- Speaking of Daphne’s brother, Simon is the worst character of the entire series. Just brutally unfunny after the initial shock of the houseguest from hell episode.

- Lauren Linney is a great actress, but her high pitched shrill voice on Frasier almost took me out of Season 11.

- I’ve commented on Frasier’s proclivities for big titties. I wonder how involved Kelsey Grammar was on casting decisions, and if their casting director worked on Star Trek Next Generation.

- Just the either amount of Lilith. She always had a reason to be there and the writers gave her things to do.

- Good call to never depict Maris on film. No make up artist could ever give Niles, Frasier, and Martin’s physical descriptions justice.

I’m sure I missed most of the high brow art, literature, wine, and cuisine references, but it’s a very traditional sitcom. It outclasses Friends, but it’s a distant cry from Cheers and Seinfeld.

What is this constant need to shit on Friends?  The cool factor?

Friends is on the same level as Cheers and Seinfeld. Especially the first few seasons.

Jean Smart was awesome as Lana.  but Kirby was a beating.  probably the second or third jump the shark moment after introducing Roz's daughter Alice or Niles/Daphne finally happening.

A few favorite moments, not all…

Frasier/Marty thinking Niles offed himself in the bathroom, but then he comes out covered in shaving cream.

Niles’ parrot talking shit, and the whole dinner party.

Frasier/Niles fighting to be cork master, and Marty having the “best meal of his life” interrupted.

Patrick Stewart’s guest appearance.

Anything Bebe, but especially the Dr Phil cameo.

Jean Smart is great in everything, especially Fargo Season 2, but I’m glad this didn’t come to fruition. https://www.cbr.com/frasier-spinoff-series-nearly-happened/

One episode at a time
