There are 3.  The Sheraton is closer to the terminal, 2 Hilton properties on top of the train station.  Recs please.

Penelope?  Bueller?  Anyone?

OP, why an airport hotel?  One of those 8 hour layover deals?

I’ve stayed at a nice Holiday Inn that was very close to the terminal.

They're all fine especially if you're just staying there for a night before the flight.

Business travel boils down to points, a book, and something to knock your ass out on command.

It's a large facility, and its very convenient getting in an out of the train station, and to the airport facility from the hotels.

I stayed at Hilton Garden Inn which was perfect. It's still a decent walk to security. I also stayed at the Steigenberger which was nicer with a good bar/restaurant and is only a 5-minute free shuttle ride away.

Bump. Have a long layover coming up and will be staying at one of the Hiltons at the airport. Any recommendations for getting out of the airport for a bit to see some sites? Considering taking the train to Mainz or one of the towns in that area.

Landing around mid-day and will have until the next morning.

You can take the train from the airport to downtown.  There is a river boat tour of castles along the Rhine that is pretty neat.  They include a stop for a snack and wine tasting if I remember correctly.  Definitely touristy stuff, but with your time window would probably be a good thing to do.

I was stuck there for a week or so when the volcano blew in Iceland back around 2008 or 2009.  The old town square is also neat to have a meal and beers and people watch.

Yeah, there's plenty to do in Frankfurt proper for an overnight. The old (reconstructed, because we bombed the FUCK out of Frankfurt) altstadt is cool, there's a great museum there on the history of the area.  There's also a pretty cool food hall, the Kleinmarkthalle nearby, with some other cool shops and restaurants in the area.

There's a wurst stand in the Kleinmarkthalle, Ilse Schreiber.....it's a trip.  I highly recommend the experience.  It's a line, she's a stern German gal, and an institution.

I doubt you will see her smiling.  We did not.
