June 25, 20214 yr Oh cool! Another television show lecturing me! Out. You’re so brave. If “hey have you noticed that two white guys can act playfully gay around each other but two black guys can’t” is viewed as a lecture… well, good luck in this world.
June 26, 20214 yr i didn't feel lectured to, and had no idea where it was going, but it worked. they also bumped it into dave's relationship with his best friend, who also kinda do weird gay-ish bathtub stuff together. but like they said, it's not sexual. i felt like i understood both points of view (dave and gata), and neither was really right or wrong, it just was.
June 26, 20214 yr I candidly don’t know what I was supposed to get out of that episode, but it didn’t really work for me.
June 27, 20214 yr I liked how we saw red head go all grumpy angry. Later to find out it was his birthday. I felt that
June 28, 20214 yr I didn’t really understand the commentary of the last episode. I don’t care what culture or background you’re from, if you’re “playing around” like that you’re 150% gay. Unless there’s this whole aspect of rich white culture I have never heard of, but I doubt it.

I don’t know, it felt like they were trying too hard but maybe I’m out of the loop on this.
July 1, 20214 yr Oh cool! Another television show lecturing me! Out. If you thought that was a lecture you’re really gonna hate the Internet. I don’t recommend going there. Another interesting episode. We already knew Dave was a narcissistic ass, I’m not sure what the takeaway was. Nice to have Taylor back though.
July 15, 20214 yr great episode. emotional roller coaster. as much as we all try to be lil dicky, deep down, we're still dave.
July 23, 20214 yr Best episode of the season this week. Great stuff. Agree. Dunno if it was as anxiety-riddled in reality, but LD really did one of those cyphers in 2016.

July 23, 20214 yr That was the best episode of the season imo. Had been kind of disappointed till this point.

July 30, 20214 yr What about "Ally's Song"? Is that an Israel thing? Because if it is we should put it out immediately. And yeah the song was great. Thought Ally would have recognized the beat from season 1, but I guess not.
August 6, 20214 yr if even one of the spoiler wankers fell for that for even one second it was worth it.
August 6, 20214 yr "i don't know you, but i don't like you." the dutch guy is making the most out of his lines so far.
August 6, 20214 yr one of my favorite soccer videos ever, featuring the Soccer Saturday crew from the show:
August 6, 20214 yr i am so disappointed that i have to wait another week to catch the next episode. that was great.

August 12, 20214 yr Say what you want about Lil Dicky, but the man knows how to stick the landing on his season finales.

August 13, 20214 yr Strong finish to the season. Loved the finale. I assume Ally’s Song didn’t make the album.
August 13, 20214 yr Just rewatched ending... so so good. that transition to super fans in Delaware haha. i love it
August 20, 20214 yr The actor who played Ally’s date has a couple good movies under his belt. Wolf of Snow Hollow is pretty funny.

Unless there’s this whole aspect of rich white culture I have never heard of, but I doubt it. This show is loosely based on real life -- so it's an exaggeration of the "real" Dave. His whole persona is crafted around this absurdist/non-sequitur sense of humor, and the genius of this show is blurring the lines between (1) Dave Byrd the person, (2) Lil Dicky the rapper, and (3) Lil Dicky the rapper portrayed on Dave. I've been watching his vids since before the first album, and now watching the TV show it's hard to draw the lines between 1 vs 2 vs 3. So yeah, on the surface that scene is awkkkward as hell, but its probably one of the instances of extreme over-the-top exaggeration.
August 21, 20214 yr Just binged S02. First 2 or 3 episodes were really boring and awkward - the cinematic production style didn't really fit with the vibe - but then it got really really good, for reasons mentioned above. Checked IMDB and first 3 EPs had guest co-writers. The rest were primarily from the core writers, so that probably explains it.
