I prefer the classics:

You know, baby, it's the 1980s

Baby Doc sent it up from Haiti

Can't get it on, or even get high

Come on, baby, fuck me and die

No sex

No sex, not anymore

I remember 1982

Some VD strain, but that's all through

This year it's a retrovirus

Now they'd just as soon gas and fire us

But no sex, not in the hall

No sex, not against the wall

I'm really worried about the future

Junkie blood is gonna pollute ya

Pretty soon we're all gonna get it

It's time to buy some stuff on credit

But no sex, not on the floor

No sex, not anymore

Self induced but hey, he does have a fever..

I called the doctor

In the morning

I had a fever

It was a warning

She said "There's nothing I can prescribe

To keep your raunchy bag of bones alive"

I got some money left for one more shot

She said "God bless you" I said "Thanks a lot"

It's a slow, slow death

I prefer the Citizen Dick version "Touch me, I'm Dick."

Not virus per se, but if you want creepy, eerie...

Not viral, but bacterial. This one is a bit of a deep dive, and the song is not about kicking heroin. It's really about food poisoning from eating some cold turkey left out. 😷

And the original, since it features John Moyer, former bassist of the great Austin band, Soak.  I remember not having a way to get home from a Soak show in San Antonio, and they were nice enough to give me a ride back to Dobie.

So don't drink the water, don't you breathe the air.
If it's gotten to that point then I have to declare:

That you please bury me with it!
Please bury me with it!
