How many college football players are under the age of 15?

Mentally?

But it's not like the chances are zero.  Kids have gotten sick and died.  It's a legitimate worry, certainly as a parent, not something completely made-up like the bullshit vaccine/autism link.

Ages 0-24 are significantly more likely to die from influenza & pneumonia.

I have no data on meteors, spontaneous combustion, alien abductions or M&M overdose but we do have Google.

none - he's talking about being worried about giving covid to his own kids.

Nah, I'm not really worried.  I don't like my kids that much.

Yeah they just need to play. It’s unbelievable to me that MLB and especially NBA are fucking around and not planning on playing starting June 1

What have these people been doing for 2 1/2 months?

it's a pr nightmare for them to use thousands of tests when people can't get them that need them.  they also don't want to kill their coaches.

You need to study up on sovereign immunity.

In certain limited circumstances, the Texas Tort Claims Act (Chapter 101, Texas Civil Practice & Remedies Code) provides a waiver of the State of Texas’ sovereign immunity with respect to liability and suits against governmental units like The University of Texas System and its individual institutions for property damage, personal injury, and death proximately caused by the wrongful act or omission or the negligence of an employee acting within the scope of his or her employment.

The starting early and doing finals remotely idea is genius. If the heart of the flu season is December- March, you eliminate the student exposure to half of the season.

I would add that to be allowed back on campus you have to get a test done no latter than a week before returning.

I think we are well past the vale on this issue now.

Here is the nightmare scenario. Somehow, one asymptomatic kid slips through. Then, 23 Texas football players test positive. One student athlete has a genetic immunity issue that has never been diagnosed. That young man dies. Slam dunk lawsuit. Devestating consequences for Texas athletics.

Honest question is this any diff than say a genetic issue that causes a kid to die during conditioning after practice.  Can the family sue for not knowing their kid had an extra issue?

Especially when you consider the number that will die from the affects of shutting everything down for 3 months.

Hmm.  How many is that?

It's one way to get out of a bad contract.

Pay Dye's got the COVID.  Hate his former team, but have enjoyed listening to him ruminating about football and telling STOW-riz over the years.  He damn sure wishes he hadn't eaten the bad M&M.  He wants to watch games on the Plains for a few more years.

Who cannot get a Covid test now? I just did a simple google search and found two separate places within 10 miles of my house that offer free testing. I think that narrative on the difficulty of getting tested is dated and entirely inaccurate.

Or, more likely not wanting to hurt the revenue stream needed as many smaller schools never managed funds for a "unforseen event"..?

We now have more evidence that the cancellation of the 2020 college football season could cost schools more than $4 billion. According to a Washington University report commissioned by ESPN, schools in the Power Five conferences could lose in the neighborhood of $4 billion if football isn't played in 2020.1 day ago

I still strongly think XII could be in a position to poach like-minded PAC schools, (to battle so called "SEC domination) someday...

Political stuff aside, what are the odds of the Texas/LSU game being played as scheduled? Looking at pulling trigger on TicketCity for a pair of tickets.

I suspect they will delay making the attendance final call a little longer.

I wouldn’t buy a ticket without a full refund policy if fans are not allowed.

Would be funny if they made Coach O wear a mask and he suddenly became intelligible. Call it the Boomhauer effect.
