March 29, 20205 yr Pour one out for Joe. He’s departed this mortal coil on Earth, Third Rock from the Sun.

March 30, 20205 yr His casket will be an 8 ft bed that never has to be made. Fuck he had some good ones. John Deere green and new way to light up an old flame are 2 of my all time faves.
March 30, 20205 yr My BIL’s Dad grew up with him in a small OK town and they stayed friends through the years. He said Joe was super-nice and a stand up guy. As a middle-schooler I loved his music. It’s not my cup of tea anymore but I’m not gonna lie I did listen to a few of his tunes last night with a cold beer in hand on the back porch. RIP Joe. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

March 30, 20205 yr Ships that Don’t Come In is a damn fine song and shows Diffie’s impressive vocal range. I always liked it but dang sure can’t sing along. Edited March 30, 20205 yr by squib

March 31, 20205 yr Always loved John Deere Green. Really like this cover. Was posted last week before it was even public that he had COVID-19. https://www.instagram.com/tv/B-E-8XfFSgH/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
March 31, 20205 yr I'm not a huge American Aquarium fan but that's a great cover. Acoustic changes the whole feel of the song

Thanks for the link I've been listening to a bunch of his covers. John Prine, Bruce and maybe my favorite Turnpike song

Bird Hunters is probably my favorite song anyone wrote in the past decade.

They nailed the whole thing Outside of their first, out of print album ("Bossier City") I can probably count the songs I skip in their entire discography on one hand. They were remarkably consistent. They weren't the most prolific songwriters, but they almost never put any duds out there either.
